Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXII Off-Season Edition)

Post#22 » by MagicTownBaller » Thu Jul 5, 2012 4:53 pm

Just so everyone knows, that's not a real SAS quote. I made it up to make it sound like him. Every time they bring up Dwight Howard on ESPN, that's always what he says.

If he wanted to be in Houston, they would have traded him there at the deadline last season, but Dwight opted in to his contract so he wouldn't have to go the Rockets, because he wants to be in Brooklyn.

Yet, if he opted out he could have been in Brooklyn. He is trying to say Dwight knew they would trade for JJohnson and wanted to force his way into a so called "big3"? Or was that a joke?

So if the Lakers are serious about not moving Bynum or Gasol, which I believe, where could Howard go to next? The Mavs with old timers like Dirk or Kidd, the Hawks, who were never on his list? Seriously. The guy is running out of option. He may just want to write an apology letter to the organization, fans, city and sign an agreement to sign a 5 year, 120 million deal with Orlando once the season ends. That would be his best play because that commits him to the team and this gives Rob a chance to clear more space and get some cap room to start targeting FAs in 2013.

they also said they wouldn't be making any big moves this offseason

i dont think theyre out of it for howard until he is actually gone, it just makes too much sense for both teams

Yup. Posturing, nothing more.

Exactly. When you hear the word "sources" from ESPN, it is SAS who is stating his opinion.

All depends on your expectations.

What did you expect him have accomplished at this point into his 2 week tenure?

I'm going to give him more time, but yeah. So far, I'm not really impressed. I see that Danny Ferry takes over the Hawks and they made some big trades right away, getting rid of their two worst contracts.

There isn't much he can do. We have no cap space. Our assets suck. He resigned Nelson, which to me was more of a force than a good resigning because we only had Duhon at PG. His next moves need to be sign a coach, let Anderson walk and don't sign any one else to a long term deal.

He will have more options in the summer of 2013 or right before the trade deadline.

Return to Orlando Magic
