Hennigan has proven to be a solid evaluator of talent? What?????? Because of summer league? He just got hired as GM. All he has done so far is re-sign Nelson for to much money. He got Ayon and drafted Nicholson and O'Quinn. The jury is certainly out on any of those deals. And he is prepared, if reports are correct, to trade Howard and get very little in return. He better be a good judge of talent because those 3 draft picks will more then likely be in the teens or later. And Harkless could well be a bust.

But saying at this point that Hennigan is a solid evaluator of talent is ridiculous. There has been no way to evaluate anything yet. But this trade stinks to high heaven. It is a **** and there is no way to dress it up. We have gotten hosed. The "patience" B.S. really paid off, didn't it?

Terrible deal.

Worse of all the offers.

This deal offers less talent than some of the other offers.
This deal locks in larger contractual obligations than some of the others. Denver overpaid Afflalo then passed him on to Orlando who likes paying overpaid players. Couple that would the inability to move Hedo's contract and the boneheaded decision not to take back Gasol in the deal.

This deal knocks the Magic out of the playoffs for the foreseeable future. Good deal for the Lakers and the Sixers.

I thought building through the draft with high draft picks was a priority. The picks in this deal are useless. Is this really that much better then letting him walk? At least we would not have to watch him win championships in LA.

I think this is what Hennigan meant by puting together a product that the fans can be proud of.

this is what i'm thinking.

the plan to build from the ground up could backfire solely because we've got guys who i don't think will be happy to let this team fail/lose. BBD, Afflalo, JJ and Jameer will all do their best to keep this team competitive. even if we don't make the playoffs, i think we'll have played ourselves out of a high lottery pick.

I don't like how the centers on our roster are all PF's that can play C, we need atleast one inforcer on Defense, we will be last in defensive rebounding and shot-blocking

Co-sign on the competitiveness front.

A team with BBD, Nelson, Afflalo and Redick will still manage to win enough games to push to make the playoffs. Best case scenario is a late lottery pick, which quite frankly does not help our rebuild.

Man, that Houston deal should've been our focus. Lamb, Martin, picks and cap relief trumps this one by far, IMO.

A source tells Marc Stein that a trade call has been scheduled with the NBA league office for Friday morning.

The reported deal would send Howard, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark to the Lakers, Andre Iguodala going to the Nuggets, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Sixers, while the Magic would receive at least Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' second round pick in 2013 via Denver.

Is Al Harrington included or not?

Go easy on Hennigan. Hearing Orl Pres Alex Martins likely ran this one. Always good to have non-bball folks make critical decision.

Funny thing is, as bad as Duhon is, he got rewarded by being traded to the Lakers!

Isn't Nikola Vucevic a center? I think O'Quinn is a center too, undersized one, but he is a center.

I just don't think those 2 guys will be strong enough and big enough to make a decent impact in the defensive paint

This team is going to be built through the Draft and I am not saying Hennigan cannot evaluate Draft talent.

I am saying this deal was rushed and this team could do better.

Waiting to see the official deal that goes down. Really hoping the sources are a little wrong and we're unloading Hedo or getting something else in return.

I would imagine Hennigan's plan is to hope these picks turn into lottery picks, and if not to package them and move up one year, maybe even package them with our own (which will be a low lottery pick) and move up to the #1 or #2 spot.

I expect Magic to try everything possible to get the #1 pick, including having an awful year and taking back less in a trade with Dwight.

Al Harrington's contract is 50% guaranteed for 13-14 and 14-15, thats very very bad!

I can see the reasoning to get Afflalo/Vucevic, but why are we taking on Al Harrington? :-?

Hope the plan is to trade him right away
