I'm actually surprised the guy retired. He still could have come off someone's bench for the vet min, and fill in a role similar to what Pietrus did for Boston this past year.

...like on this team? That has multiple young European players now? He may not be playing but the guy is still going to be there to provide guidance and advise to our young players.

Judging scouts is one of the hardest things to do, I mean he could find great prospects, but other teams get a chance to pick them, or better, yet, management just ignores / disregards it. You rarely (if ever) hear about the work of scouts.

Big fan of this move. Parker is greatly respected throughout Europe.

I vaguely remember Parker in the NBA, and did not know he was such an impact player overseas. However, if that is the case then he should be a great asset to our scouting department. He's played with against a lot of foreign players, and may have his finger on the pulse of talent that is developing over there. It would be nice for once for us to draft for our future and actually get talent out of it.

I really liked him during his former Magic years, I didn't like much his last era on the NBA. Decent veteran, whatever.

I was also surprised. In addition to a limited contract in the NBA, he also could easily have received a good contract abroad. Perhaps there are other issues at play, such as an injury.
