Wonder if Minny would do this deal:

Magic get Kirilenko, Ridnour, Williams and #9 pick
Wolves get Afflalo, partial TPE

This lets the Wolves cut 6.65 million off their cap while upgrading at the SG position. If they declined team options and traded smaller players, and still extended a QO to Pekovic, they would have about 15 million in cap space. They could they sign Iggy, and form a lineup of:

C-Pekovic
PF-Love
SF-Iggy
SG-Afflalo
PG-Rubio

That's a pretty solid starting five that is being coached by Adelman. They could use the 10 million TPE to turn around and acquire a decent bench.

They would but why would we? That's a lot of salary to take on just for #9 in a "weak" draft.

A lot of one year salaries, but not long term. We arent entering into the free agent market anyway. Im not sure Minny fans agree with Magic fans that an Afflalo for #9 straight up is fair. People are talking about getting a second pick in this draft. Not sure how that is done.

We'd also get rid of our only big salary in the 2014 free agent market if we chose to participate in that.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA 1m
Trey Burke, Michael Carter-Williams, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, Shane Larkin, CJ McCollum, Zeke Marshall, Korie Lucious will workout for PHX today.

Oladipo, McLemore, and Muhammad were there yesterday. I'd love to sit in on these head to head match ups.

I'd do it, I think..

Idk about including Ridnour, but I'd like to have a player like DWilliams come off of the bench and give us some energy. That #9 could be CJ McCollum along with our #2 Ben or Victor (I prefer Oladipo).

Doesn't an Afflalo/Matthews duo seem a bit redundant? And is AA that much of an upgrade over Matthews, to justify the deal for Portland?

I agree with Ben on this one. I dont think theres much seperation between the two.

Portland has been looking and bringing in failed 2 guards for years. Although I like Matthews, he's been injury prone and is best as 6th man. They do need a Hickson replacement too, but have Meyers Leonard in the wings.

6'5 isnt undersized as a SG.

I actually dont mind Afflalo at the 3, but it depends on the match up.

Very well done. I like it for both teams. Especially being Love has been unhappy there. That would make them legit, quick.

AA at the 3, is prob. like Harris at the 4, can be average to good based on match ups.

If we do draft one of the SGs, I hope we can bring in someone like Sherwood Brown too. A bit undersized, but a baller. And an Orlando native!!!

bio wasn't on Draft Express, but found this:

http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index ... s_pre.html

The Trail Blazers on Monday hosted their third predraft workout of the offseason at their practice facility in Tualatin. The session featured six players and was attended by owner Paul Allen. Among the players was Sherwood Brown. A look at the former Florida Gulf Coast guard:
SHERWOOD BROWN
College: Florida Gulf Coast
Size: 6-4, 200 pounds
Projected NBA position: Guard
Noteworthy: A four-year player for the Eagles who was little-known nationally before their surprising run to the final 16 of the NCAA tournament. Won the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year award after he averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as a senior. Averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds during the NCAA tournament in which he helped Florida Gulf Coast become the first No. 15 seed to reach the final 16. Had 24 points and nine rebounds in the Eagles' first-round win over No. 2-seeded Georgetown. The major mock drafts do not project him being drafted. -- Mike Tokito

Minny would never do that. Go post it on the trade board, you'll get laughed out of there.

Do we want any of those guys or will they just come off after next year? I always had a hope that the large TPE could be turned into a decent pick next year, may be dreaming on that though. That's quite a bit of money to spend for MCW or Shroeder but I do like both of those players. Am I missing something? I like it for them, tell me why it's good for us.

If he continues to improve his shot (has really good form) he is gonna be a steal late 1st/early 2nd.

A 6-5 PG would def be change of pace for us. I just love the fact that he has only played the point for TWO years & already led the ACC in assists. Just a GREAT play maker in the open court. Needs to shore up that shot (mostly on the move) & continue to improve his defense & he will make some team look very very smart in this draft.

At 6-5 is ability to pass the ball is pretty special from a PnR standpoint & ESPECIALLY IN THE OPEN COURT.

If we go 2 guard with the 2nd pick, hopefully Henny has him on his radar.

I love the fact that we live in a world where a team who hasn't made the playoffs in 10 years is in "win now mode."

Do ya see what ya did there. That's your sub conscious telling you something.

I was looking at the 2014 mocks and noticed we got Wiggins which was cool but they also had us picking at 21, where did that come from? Both Denver and NY were listed as picking at 24 or 27 so 27 would be ours but why the 21st pick?

This could be big news for us: Reports are that Saric is seriously considering withdrawing from this year's draft to stay in Croatia another year. If this happens, Dallas cannot pick him, sign a letter saying he won't play, and save cap space. One more reason they trade the pick IMO.

-Trade AA/or whatever other Vet for a late 1st

Young guys going forward:

Trey Burke
Doron Lamb
Carrick Felix
Moe Harkless
Tobias Harris
Tony Mitchell
Andrew Nicholson
Nik Vucevic
Kyle OQuinn

Have the ability to mismatch them with the remaining vets in multiple lineups & have a very versatile team going forward. Add the 2014 draft to the young pieces already in place & we are well on our way.

Sometimes I get the feeling that about half of this board would rather have an all-rookie prospect team than a championship squad. I fall into that group, gotta stay focused on the rings.
