Re: Official Speculation Thread
I'm really curious to see how Dellavedova will do with our summer league guys. high iq, good shot, international experience, and knows how to run the PnR.
I'm very intrigued.

Running plays? BBD would be fine if he didn't have such a tendency of becoming a black hole.
Should have completed the sentence.
Bbd has a better chance of playing the point than dipo does. White chocolate would come to the arena with kids and jump out of the stands to play the point in street clothes and flip-flops before dipo would. That is how unlikely I think dipo becoming 1-guard.
I don't see Dipo as a PG, but potentially filling an Iggy-style role as a playmaker/facilitator.
Probably he can, as do most 2-guards when they were drafted. But handles are the most difficult part of the game to improve, that skill is mostly instinctive and balance dependant, so many can't make progress.
I would rather use him as a 3-D and a transition guy then a play-maker. No reason to force him to change his game if he can use that energy to be better on what he already do well.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.
"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

The high flyer DJ Stephens is joining the Heats Summer League team.
Nick Calathes, 24, a 6-foot-6 point guard, visited the Mavs this week. He worked out with coach Rick Carlisle and met with team officials. According to a source, mutual interest was expressed in Calathes potentially playing for the Mavs’ summer league team and coming to training camp.
Nuggets are bringing in Richard Howell, Ramon Galloway & CJ Harris.
Knicks sign CJ Leslie.
Celtics will have Phill Pressey
Man I would try & get Calathes to join our squad for the Summer League. Could be a steal since he finally wants to play in the NBA.

Agree on the calathes thing. I brought him up a little in the past and most people weren't really for the idea but he did have a amazing POY season with his last team.

Re: Official Speculation Thread
Hoping we have a resolution on Hedo and Harrington here in the next week or two, then we have options to pick up on KOQ and see if we offer DQJ another contract. Looks like everyone else in under contract.
Just listening to NBA TV who think we made a reach for Oladipo and that we settled for a guy that we thought would work hard for a couple years while we rebuilt and not necessarily the most talented guy. Drafted a need. If McLemore becomes a perrenial all-star everyone in Orlando is getting fired. -Aldridge.

I used to like Aldridge but the last year or two he has gotten really bad, way to far to either side with his thoughts. He also seems to have the big head syndrome where everything he says is gold and if you dont like it and agree you are dead wrong.

Re: Official Speculation Thread
- Arguably the biggest name left off the board was Thursday night, and it didn't take him long to find a potential NBA home. The 6'9 power forward out of North Carolina State signed a deal with the New York Knicks, likely ensuring him a spot in summer league and in training camp in the fall. Leslie, who averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Wolfpack, seemed like a mid-to-high second round pick, but wasn't able to work out before the draft due to a hip injury, and his stock tumbled. With the Knicks pressed up against the salary cap, his unguaranteed contract is perfect, and after working the pick-and-roll with Lorenzo Brown in college, he should fit on a team that gets a lot of offense from that type of action.
- The Celtics signed Phil Pressey, the maddeningly inconsistent Mizzou point guard. It seemed a poor decision of Pressey to leave school after his junior career, with many thinking he'd need to prove he could solve his poor shot selection and turnover woes to make it to the NBA with his 5'11 frame. His decision didn't pay off with a draft pick, but he'll have a pair of similarly athletic guards in Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley to mentor him on a rebuilding Celtics squad.
- 6'7 small forward Rodney Williams out of Minnesota is an explosive leaper with a huge wingspan, but didn't display the basketball skills to earn a selection despite a senior year where he averaged 10.2 points. He'll sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, who made some of the biggest splashes of draft night by landing Nerlens Noel and Michael Carter-Williams as well as second-round pick Arsalan Kazemi. Between Noel, Kazemi, and Williams, that's a lot of length and rebounding talent for a rebuilding squad.
- Syracuse guard Brandon Triche will sign with the Charlotte Bobcats. The 6'4 two-guard was a key part of the Orange team that made the Final Four this past year, the other half of a backcourt with No. 11 pick Michael Carter-Williams, but didn't seem as NBA ready, not cracking many top 100 lists of eligible players.
- VCU guard Troy Daniels wasn't expected to be drafted, but did display an NBA skill in his shooting touch. He hit 40.3 percent from downtown while taking over eight threes a game for the Rams while participating in their chaotic full-court press. It was enough for the Bobcats to offer him a free agent deal.
That's just about it for free agent deals, but we do have some news on summer league invites. A few players were on Schroeder's list of the top 15 undrafted free agents:
- Marquette's Vander Blue will play for the Grizzlies, a solid defensive fit for one of the league's best defensive teams. Blue's decision to leave the Golden Eagles early didn't pay off after an Elite Eight run.
- Notre Dame center Jack Cooley will play for the Grizzlies as well. Cooley's another Memphis-type player, undersized at center but capable of snagging boards like few else in the draft.
- Illinois guard Brandon Paul will play for the Timberwolves. He needs to display a shooting touch to go along with his athleticism to make the league.
- St. Mary's point guard Matthew Dellavedova, considered the best pick-and-roll point guard in college basketball this past year, will join the Orlando Magic's Summer League squad. He was also on the Australian national team at the Olympics.
Some assorted names:
- Freak Memphis athlete D.J. Stephens will split time between the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks in Summer League. I want him to make the league selfishly for dunk contest purposes.
- Indiana guard Christian Watford will play for both the homestate Pacers and the Mavs.
- Southern Miss' Dwayne Davis, who averaged 16 points per game for the Golden Eagles, will join the Warriors in Summer League.
- And last but not least, in nepotism news, Charles Boozer -- yes, he's the brother of Carlos Boozer, yes, his name is just Carlos but in English -- will play for the Bulls' summer league team.

Re: Official Speculation Thread
I feel confident about Hennigan's player assessments with experience in maybe the 2 best teams at assessing talent, and if Harris and Vicevic are any idication, he brought that with him to Orlando, Nicholson remains to be seen, but it wasn't a high pick and he hadn't been here for long, plus among players picked after him, maybe the one who's done better is Hennigan's pick Kyle O'Quinn... idk, just wanted to point out some reasons to feel confident about our pick.
A lonesome morning

so you do not agree with him? that is exactly what we did, not that i have a problem with the approach.

^^^ Not so much about what he just said but it seems like Aldridge used to be more respectful and sincere with his dialogue. Now he seems to be going for more wow factor attention whoring (SAS-Broussard-Bayless etc...)

Bold statement by Aldridge. And I totally agree he is far less credible then he used to be. I highly doubt everyone gets fired if Mac turns into an allstar.

Re: Official Speculation Thread
It was weird, everyone at ESPN loved Oladipo, everyone on NBA TV loved McLemore. The difference in the two teams' coverage of the draft was really big. Did anyone else notice that?

Love what i've seen of this kid. High IQ, good control of tempo, good shooter, unselfish, and crazy PnR game. I think I'm more intrigue to see what he does in summer league more than I am for Vic.
