Pretty good read about what Orlando should do regarding its lineups and PF situation. I agree with him for the most part, he has some sound logic to me. Harris off the bench playing starter minutes, sliding into either forward position alongside Oladipo and starting Nicholson or Maxiell based on the matchup.
First, I realize that the article starts with the assumption that Harkless is the starting SF, but even with that assumption, sacrificing the best starting lineup (which IMO is one with Harris in it at either SF or PF) for the benefit of bench productivity and "easier" bench rotation doesn't make sense. The goal is to put your best lineup on the floor to start the game so that you ideally take a lead from the beginning of the game and then use the bench to maintain the lead.
Second, I just have a hard time buying that Harkless is more likely to start than Harris. I don't see enough from summer league or the preseason to justify that conclusion. I do realize that Harkless has started during the preseason, so I understand why the author might draw this conclusion but my opinion of Vaughn would take a dive if he started Harkless over Harris.
