All any Magic fan wants to do is keep saying he has potential to become "the guy." That's unfair to the effort and improvement he's made to be the player he is today.
His contract is great value for what he currently provides too.
I agree that he still has room to improve. I would love for him to be even better than he is — he would say he wants the same thing — but he's solid as is now.
I'm not saying I'm against trading him if the right deal came along, but the whole "AG is an all-star or bust" is getting old, and wanting to trade him because he hasn't reached his perceived ceiling is like not seeing the forest for the trees, IMO.
The problem is Aaron Gordon is not accepting the player he is. Most of us and many of the media members already know who he is. On ball defensive specialist, underwhelming low iq team defender, lob threat, good passer, below average shooter, below average ball handler.
Did you watch interviews with AG ? I watch most of our team interviews. Gordon one's are the worst for me. I hear a delusional player who was spoiled most of his time here. When he came into the bubble he told he practically mastered basketball and he has another gear offensively (his own words). Even Stan Van Gundy during one of his podcast appearences had a rant about Aaaron Gordon not focusing on the game.
I think Aaron Gordon needs a change of place and some veteran tough love. Vucevic is a great player but he is not a locker room leader.
