Why did they even get the pick? They don't use second rounders.

We have been really bad defensively against guards. Rozier was going off and Burks I remember off the top of my head. Beverly would try to fight them if they score too much on him.

Must've been 0 demand for Bamba, and the Magic know they're letting him go after this season so might as well get a 2nd that can be used later either as an actual pick or for future trades.

Pat Bev a Magician.... hmmmm.... one of the least likely names you will ever think to have on our roster knowing the culture our FO has.

This is a pretty bad deal for Bamba, I've never been a fan of him, but a second round pick we will probably give away for cash considerations is disappointing for a big with his physical gifts who is shooting 40% from 3 this year. Maybe if he was actually getting minutes and wasn't out of the rotation we could have gotten a better deal.

But it is what it is, time to move on. Best of luck to Mo in LA.

So what am I missing here..... The Magic spend $3M dollars more to bring in and waive Bev in order to get a 2nd round pick that they sell for $500K???

Magic did not want to take back any salary for next season.

Got best deal for Mo Bamba with that in mind.

It's a contract Dump... Pat's contract ends after this season and the Magic got a 2nd round pick.

Bamba has no value anyways. Nobody was really going to pick him up but for a 2nd round pick max.

Bamba had a no guarantee in his contract too, so he was expiring as well. For $3M less too.

We got cash considerations that might cover the higher salary.

As for Bamba, we wouldn't pick his option, so it was basically getting nothing from him during offseason or a 2nd now. We did the right call.

With all the 2nd rounders used in trades today I guess we need to start getting some back considering how many we've sold over the last few years!

He never wanted to play for Magic, hence never even did workout for them.

He would probably left last summer if he could got any other offer.

It's just horrendus usage of high lottery pick. Apsolutley set to fail from start ( and i get similar vibes from Suggs and how he has been handled over year and half ). There just seems to be zero plans or logic behind addition(s)

His length and skill were enticing. Unfortunately he was never able to shore up his weaknesses in strength and stamina.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

People are saying it in the other thread and...

Orlando sent former first-round pick Mo Bamba to Los Angeles, while the Lakers sent back veteran guard Patrick Beverley. The Magic also fetched additional second-round draft compensation and cash considerations, in addition to Beverley.

The trade means nothing. Magic just did it on behalf of Bamba's wishes.
