The difference in usage was nowhere big enough to make up for the big difference in scoring efficiency and impact for me.

That's what we are trying to figure out. He seems to do well as 2nd/3rd option and we are testing him as 1st now. Relax, Franz is still great even if he is not built for that role.

Franz is in a slump, him I am not worried about. He has played a lot of ball these past 3 seasons with the NBA and FIBA. If anyone should be tired, it’s him.

I hope Franz takes a year or 2 off from the national team after the Olympics

Luckily Paolo chose to play for the US, or else he mught be playing every year for Italy. Instead there's a good chance Paolo won't be on the team for the Olympics considering alot of the vets want to come back for one last run (Bron, Curry, etc)

Franz has more tools of a star player than Paolo, imo. He can finish around the rim better around the rim because of his length and he has more range to his shot.

What separates Paolo from him though is Paolo was and has played most of his years as the star of the team. Paolo is mentally prepared to lead a team.

Time will tell whether Franz will or can be an alpha of a team.

Like I’ve been saying since last year, we can’t have one of our top option defer to teammates, otherwise he will just be a high end role player.

He probably isn't mature enough to lead yet.

Dwight led us to the first round in his 3rd season, the 2nd round in his 4th season, and the Finals in his 5th season.

Based on this, we should make it to the Finals in 3-4 seasons.

could care less about whats said...if you look at what's happening on the court then that will tell you what you need to know....franz too comfortable deferring to players lesser than he is.....of course i'm not saying he should dominate the ball but he can be much more assertive, especially when he's with that second unit

He was one of the best finishers last year, but we've gone up against a lot of shotblockers early and he's missed bunnies. It'll get better

It could also be that Franz feels just as comfortable operating off the ball as he does on it? Ie, if Paolo does better with the ball in his hands early, Franz knows he’s also a willing passer so he can still get shots from that. But if they swap roles Franz can still go get his but Paolo doesn’t do as well reading off him as he does off Paolo.

Pure conjecture on my part, I’ve got no numbers to support it. Either way, Franz doesn’t shy away from the big shots down the line, so he’s not too deferential.
