Hmmm, interesting. I didn't realize Suggs was a stud rookie defender.Knightro wrote:eyriq wrote:AB measuring this good on defense as a 6'7 rookie point guard is insane. Right?
It's encouraging. I wouldn't say it's insane.
Suggs was +2.2 Defensive EPM (27th in the NBA) as a rookie.
Black is at +1.1. Not quite the same level.

Apples and oranges because of the different positions, but Jonathan Isaac was +2.5 Defensive EPM (25th in the NBA) in his rookie year as well.
Black is a very good rookie defender. Suggs and Isaac were spectacular rookie defenders.

Suggs was almost 8 months older than AB. It makes a slight difference at that age. Compare what AB does next year to Suggs because they'll be closer to the same age as Suggs in his rookie season.

Darn, if only Black was six months older we'd be getting an amazing defender instead of a good defender.

Isaac's up to 4.5 defensive EPM. His overall EPM is 4.4 to lead the team.

Him playing is pretty much the difference between this season and the 34 win team of last year. Suggs improvement is negated by Cole & Fultz being worse.

I agree. We're a borderline play-in team without Isaac.GelbeWand09 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Isaac's up to 4.5 defensive EPM. His overall EPM is 4.4 to lead the team.
