At any point do you not complain? Gezzus H… Nobody was overly celebratory at the point when you posted.

This is great for our reputation around the league. Doesnt matter we sign him or not, but he is the first star that comsidered us. We are not the laughing stock anymore.
Signing PG makes sense from branding and financial side if he signs for 3 years. He is also good enough playmaker that Suggs at point could work. Team with Tyus is more balanced but I dont think you can pass on PG. I am sure he would love it here with the guys.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I don’t think he and his agent would bother taking a meeting witht the Magic if we weren’t willing to offer a max.

We need shooters. No reason to need Black with PG, Suggs and Tyus. Keep Jett. Every guy off the bench should be able to drain 3s. That's how you match Boston.

But yea getting Tyus on that squad and he's averaging 20 apg lol

I don't think we can offer him full max outright. If we do, it's sign and trade and we'd have to send Clippers someone.

If PG really wants to play with us... take the chance with the 4yrs as long as the last is a team option.

Seriously, it would make upcoming stars see that we are willing to spend to win. Make us a team players want to be in not only because of Paolo and crew but because our FO spends

Yeah, I am conflicted. I would love him but I don’t know how I feel about giving a 34 year old a 4 year max contract. I wish he was 10 years younger lol
This is also what I'm struggling with, by the time paolo and Franz are ready for championships maybe a couple of years or so how viable will PG still be at 36/37? Not everyone plays until they're 40

It'll be 4 years guaranteed at the full Max. Anyone thinking it will be three or a team option is delusional. PG doesn't even take the meeting if a full 4 year max isn't on the table. Philly will 100% offer a full 4 year max with a better win now situation, PG isn't going here for anything less than that and he's probably not coming even with max money and term.

Its a good time to form a big 3 because our core are still on the “fun max” or rookie deals. Its nice to take advantage of it.

But whether he is the right guy to be stuck with or not is the question.

Why so many of you are so convinced he didn't opt out just to resign longer deal with Clippers?
Everything i always read about PG is that he has no desire to leave Western conference (LA to be specific)

The money won’t matter because he’ll be 38-39 by the time his contract is up and will be retiring.

Dont want PG. Too much money and doubt he will hold up health wise. Klay is also washed.

Not a big fan of signing old stars but George is still very very good. His playing style should age very well too. He is a great catch & shoot scorer. We doesnt upgrade our PG play but at least we replace Harris non playmaking with a top 5 playmaking wing. Unlike Ingram he is really a good fit next to Paolo & Franz, even longtime because his playing style is ideal for a 2nd or 3rd option too.

Negative: injury phrone & potentially bad performer under pressure in the playoffs, especially as a No. 1 option

The Clippers, Warriors, and Paul George were in serious negotiations until the deadline for George’s contract decision. The Warriors believed they were close to acquiring George, with plans to give him a max, four-year extension. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green supported the trade, and George indicated his desire to join the Warriors. However, the Clippers never agreed to any trade version, and George became a free agent.

The proposed trade discussions included combinations of players like Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody, along with a future first-round pick. The trade was complicated, but Warriors executives thought they had found a solution.

Forbe's: NBA's Over-38 Rule Could Hurt Clippers' Chances Of Re-Signing Paul George

George is finishing up his age-33 season and is set to turn 34 in early May. The Over-38 rule stipulates that any season that follows a player's 38th birthday "shall be attributed to the prior salary-cap years pro rata on the basis of the salaries for such prior salary-cap years." A four-year deal either with the Clippers or another team wouldn't be subject to this rule, but a five-year extension with the Clippers would.

Based on the current $141 million salary-cap projection for the 2024-25 season, the Clippers can't offer George more than $221.1 million on his new deal. They could structure it as a four- or five-year contract—in fact, the latter might make more sense to reduce his cap hits in the last few seasons—but that is not a huge advantage over the four-year, $212.2 million contract that any other team can offer him.

That means because of the Over-38 rule, the Clippers can offer George only $8.9 million more than any other team.

and a p.s.: George would pay about 6M more in taxes in California over Florida.
