Raises the defensive floor too much to let go IMO. Gotta see what the offense is like with some additions. It will be interesting to see.

Can Mosley coach a competent offense if we add some shooters and ball handlers. And also will those additions be enough to overcome the two highest usage players being non threats from 3? In some ways next year will be the ultimate evaluation year lol.

Orlando's offenive coordinator needs to be replaced; not coach Mosley.

Given the current roster, 30 per cent of the plays should be fast breaks, 30 per cent of the plays pick and rolls, and the other 40% everything else - including spot Heroball plays to mix it up.

There have been some beautiful Banchero to F-Wagner PnRs in the playoffs. They are a thing of wonder and I cannot understand why that is not go-to for this team.

The head coach doesn’t need to be an offensive guru.

We never replaced Nate Tibbetts. We need an offensive assistant that can change the offense once Weltman does his job.

Case against Mosley:

1. Offensive struggles
2. Late-game management
3. Lack of playoff success

Case for Mosley:

1. Significant improvement
2. Strong defensive identity
3. Player development
4. Positive team culture
5. Coach of the year recognition
6. On contract extension

This is good, I'd also add, he is respected around the league by other team's players.
Also being in the USA Basketball coaching cadre should also be a plus, he gets to work with elite players, maybe looking for new homes.

Mosley going before Weltman would be such a bad look for this organization.

Definitely not an A+ season for Mosley, but his boss made it as difficult as possible for him this season.

The fact is that when a team's top three salaries are JI, KCP, and Cole you are happy with a .500 team.

how could it be an A+ with Paolo missing 40+ games, Franz missing 20+ and Suggs missing 50 games.

At this juncture I say keep him because odds are the next coach will be worse than him.

Coaches get fired all the time. I don’t think anyone would notice unless they are Weltman haters.

I’m keeping Mosely and firing Weltman personally but coaches get fired all the time.

For all the positives, shooting and offense were historically terrible. That right there is enough even if Mosely only owns 15% of the responsibility.

Jamahl Mosley is not going to be fired. In fact, I would venture a guess that if you asked ownership to put an overall grade on his tenure as coach, they'd give him an A+, or at least an A. He is beloved by everyone in the organization.

That said...

Generally speaking when it comes to these sort of decisions, I'd rather be a year too early than a year too late.

If the Magic don't show tangible progress - both offensively and in how far they progress in the playoffs next season - then Mosley's very likely going to be fired in the summer of 2026 anyway.

So as far as I'm concerned, why wait on the hope that things improve when you could go hire somebody else and potentially get more out of this thing you've started to build?

I don't think the tactical acumen from an X's and O's perspective is there for Mosley, so basically you're left with Weltman having to acquire enough offensive talent to overcome the fact Mosley's bringing very little to the table schematically, and I don't trust Weltman to do that either which is why I'd be comfortable just firing them both.

Fire Weltman and let new GM decide on the coach. Mose or to move on is my favorite move.

Very few coaches earn an A+. That wasn’t a slight towards Mosley.. just saying he wasn’t perfect and isn’t entirely without fault. The FO deserves much more of the blame though

The coaches around him have to be upgraded urgently. And if the FO finds that good asst coaches won't come because Mosely has little time left on his deal ( most assts don't survive a head coaching change), then maybe Mose should be under scrutiny too.

I would hate an auto renew by Weltman of Mose's salary just because #FAMILY #NOSKIPPINGSTEPS...

I'm not on the firing Mosley train yet. I mean just look at what Weltman has given him as far as a guard rotation/scoring. And his coaching staff LOL?!? I mean the best coach he probably has over there is the guy who takes care of all the cuts and bleeding and he's not even a coach! I mean you can easily look at his assistants and tell they are a joke. If Mosley wants to stay he needs to step up his coaching assistant game big time.

I think Mosely has to win 50 games, get homecourt, and protect homecourt in the playoffs next season. Less than that, and he's probably out.

Absolutely not. When we have a properly built team then he's on the clock. We have overachieved the last 2 seasons. We were one game away from going to the 2nd round last year. This year with all the injuries we went through we still made the playoffs. Theres points of the season where Paolo, Franz and Suggs were all out. Fire him for what? Overachieving with a flawed roster last year and then doing it again with an injury plagued flawed roster. Come on

I'd say Weltman is more on the hot seat than Mosley. If this damn team could shoot the ball we'd be a contender and a top 2 seed in the East IMO. This team isn't taking bad shots, they're missing open shots. That's on the players IMO. Maaaaaaybe if you want to argue that's a result of practice or not instilling a shooting culture, but if that's the case, go out and find someone from a good shooting team, pay them big bucks to come in and be a top assistant and see if they can help Mosley tweak that side of practice. I have to admit I sometimes wonder on that side of things just because I feel like we have a lot of players that are known as good shooters before they come in, and then they fail here. Is that because they're exerting so much on defense? Lack of practice associated with it? Just bad luck?

I give Mosley another season. Weltman needs to make some moves to shore up our bench and backcourt with another go at acquiring shooters. if we get more shooters and they instantly fall back again, yea, move on from Mosley. If Weltman doesn't bring in shooters and we have this problem again next year, move on from Weltman.

I'd be interested to know the dynamic between Weltman & Mosely...being a young coach, he may be excluded from a large role in personnel decisions. But, often, the Coach and FO work hand-in-hand, in terms of what the game plan and vision is and in deciding on the right pieces to fit the vision.

I don't think it's fair to Weltman to assume that Mose is an offensive genius that keeps asking for stuff and Weltman just overrules him towards a vision of Franz/Paolo as Point Forwards, surrounded by shooter and defenders...I don't know where the vision originated or is most closely held. Weltman's the boss, so the buck stops with him as the ship is piloted in the direction he wants (which appears to be misguided) but Mose might be navigating for him.

Sure, but that’s not true next season.

Those guys go from your top 3 highest paid to overpaid given their individual production.

Top three salaries next season are Franz, Suggs, and KCP. 61.6% of the cap on those three alone. This is still on the cheaper end for the top three but is a huge leap from this season. Looking at just this feature signals we should expect a lot more next season.
