the only reason Sheed was brought in to replace KG is because the East needed a center, so I'm not upset about this, I will be if Caron doesnt make it and Hedo isnt chosen over Allen/Richardson or Wallace...

although on the subject of Sheed getting the nod, i think Ilgauskas might be more deserving...meh...

It's not a travesty. Hedo should have gotten the nod, but I understand why they chose Sheed instead - obviously it was a positional thing rather than a "who's having a better year" thing.

Sheed didn't deserve it two years ago, he doesn't deserve it now.

No matter what ANYONE says to me, 13 pts and 7 rebs is simply NOT ALL-STAR NUMBERS. I don't care what team he plays, i don't care if he's out of position. Those just aren't all-star numbers.

Being an all-star isn't all about the numbers.

Players are rewarded for being on good teams.

What is this, the celebrities-only year for the All-Star game? Are the coaches going completely off of name recognition rather than actual performance?

Inexcuseable.

I realize that. but numbers DO come into play. People whine and complain every year because undeserving players make it based on their name, yet when a player they like makes it, they bring up the same excuses. "Well he's on a great team and he's a key contributor!"

So if we went by that logic let's just put Rondo in the all-star game, or how about Bruce Bowen. better yet, since Kyle Korver joined the Jazz they've been tearing it up, let's put him on the all-star team as well!

You don't have to have amazing numbers to be an all-star, but you do need to have GOOD numbers. You shouldn't make it just because your team is tearing it up.

Here are some players in the East more deserving (all can at least play SF, and most could play PF): Ray Allen, Hedo Turkgolu, Rashard Lewis, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Gerald Wallace, Josh Smith, Danny Granger, Andre Iguodala, Shawn Marion (i realize he just got traded to the East, but if anyone deserves to play in the game, it's him).

The fact that I mentioned some of those guys should throw off signals that Rasheed doesn't deserve it.

Marion is on the worst team in the East that already has an all-star.

AI, Granger, Smith and Gerald Wallace are all on losing teams.

Ray Allen is a guard.

The East needed someone to play C/PF.

I think Josh Smith is one of the most deserving players on a losing team, yet his teammate being there hurts him. No way Atlanta deserves two all-stars.

Hedo, Gerald Wallace, and Josh Smith are all putting up great numbers and all are more deserving than Sheed but none of them can play center like Sheed.

I honestly thought that Stern would pick Hedo. Sheed didn't even want to go. Sheed has said alot of negative things about Stern in the past.

It came down to position.

Sheed is so much more than 13 and 7 and anyone who watches the game knows that. He is the Pistons MVP. He'll be the reason they can bet a team with KG or Duncan.

Sheed is more deserving than Big Z. Sheed plays great D.

[21:57] ***: did you hear KG is not playing in the all star game?
[21:57] me: yes, and i heard who his replacement was
[21:57] me: and i am not cool with that
[21:57] ***: ...
[21:57] ***: dude
[21:57] ***: rasheed wallace
[21:57] ***: wtf
[21:57] ***: WTF?
[21:57] me: are they still going to call it an all-STAR game if rasheed is playing?
[21:58] ***: dude
[21:58] ***: if arenas was healthy they'd just fill a team with all wizards and pistons
[21:58] ***: i mean come on
[21:58] me: that is true
[21:58] ***: rasheed is the next best forward?
[21:58] ***: srsly?
[21:59] me: the real question is, what has the Eastern Conference come to when Andrew Bogut can say that he too was snubbed?

Is Rasheed Wallace statistically the worst all-star ever? Those are terrible numbers for an "all-star" caliber player.

i get that the east team needed a 'center' but the fact is in the allstar game positions are a joke, lebron will play 1-4, garnett would have.. wade will be 1-3.. they put guys in so that they can get time.. besides this game means nothing, its not the mlb.... turk could have easily been picked, it should have been viewed as a roster spot, not a positional need. esp for a replacement... and being an MVP on your team doesnt make you an all star, thats why we have mvp awards..
