No Hedo won't demand Shard $$$, Shard $$$ is ridiculous but he will demand much more than the mle, I don't see him getting more than 8-10 mil per year

like Thief said, I think with Hedo there is more than just $$$, he wants to feel comfortable and I think Orlando gives him that. so unless we low ball him or trade him next season hopefully he will resign

Hedo will get at least 10 million a year. The key thing is what team with cap space will blow it all on a 30 year old jump shooter? I don't think the 76ers or Heat have him in their rebuilding plans. I think we will be bidding against ourselves , which could be a bad thing knowing how Otis is.

SVG said he'd like to experiment with Hedo at the 2? Cool!

With that said, I hope Hedo stays in Orlando.

I remember Phx making a run at him that same year that Nash was a FA. Their offer was quite a bit lower than ours.

I think thats depending on our playoff run this year. If we go in and get swept again he may start lookin elsewhere.

I really hope he stays. Turk is one of the most admirable players in the league in my opinion and fits extremely well with us. On the other hand...we have no idea what the future holds as opinions, situations and decisions can all change at a moments notice. This time next year we could have another major injury and need him badly or just the opposite could happen. Lets say he doesn't work out at the 2 and Shard plays up to the worth of his contract next year...what do we do then? Bring him off the bench? Then again he might love to win the 6th man award. As far as the money...8-10/yr max but thats only if there isn't another team out there with the cap room and the need for a great veteran scorer and creater. IDK...things change too fast to really speculate.

I'll worry about Hedo's contract and future at the end of next season.
Right now, Dwight, Rashard and Hedo are one hell of a trio.

Hedo will definitely slide to the SG spot and Rashard back at SF if we get a legit PF. That lineup would much up with the best.

1. a very astute observation.
2. hedo is nothing but a jump shooter who just happens to rebound, make plays for others, have a knack for succeeding in pressure.
3. if you repeat it, they will come.
only 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists shy of yet another triple double - anonymous

I also think Hedo will be traded this off-season.

His stock has hit the roof during this season.

With Shard making Max money (harder to trade) Hedo has two years left at the MLE (circa 2004).

With all his numbers, replays on ESPN, "snub articles", and the overall attention he's getting I'm sure EVERY GM is aware of what Hedo brings to the table.

This offseason or by the next trade deadline, Hedo will be moved.

For a playmaker point guard. (Tons of 4's in the Draft)

He will be traded before it gets to that point..he's going to be the piece that gets us our big or PG over the summer IMO..

He's gonna want money, and we won't be able to afford him, might as well try to get someone for him, such as pietrus or B. Diddy! lol but seriously, we're gonna have to trade him for something, because he's gonna want a lot more than we can offer him
Whether you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T, you're right.

spinedoc wrote:Hedo isn't worth max dollars. He's more like a Richard Jefferson type player, makes for a good third option, but not good enough to carry a team. He really needs great players around him for his true game to come out. He deserves to be in the bracket just above the mle and below the max, somewhere between 7-10M per year imo.

Sad that Hedo would be 3rd option on a championship Team. That would make Rashard 4th Option or a role player.

Though he is playing great. We need to trade him for a Superstar Gaurd, Gilbert Arenas we need to trade for.

Its perception I guess, because I don't believe that Hedo has the season that he's having this year without Lewis. His confidence has risen significantly, and Lewis is a big reason for that. I don't believe that its just coincidence that Hedo waited until this year to go off.

Most likely scenario is;
We will want to see his full next year performance before making a decision and he will want to opt out of his cheap contract next year. So this works for us and him.
At the end of next season, if he continues to play like this, he will deserve a good / long contract around 60M over 5 years. Since we have bird rights, we dont need to worry about being over the cap while signing him.
He likes being in Orlando and he likes Van Gundy. Also, we find a leader in him and every team needs a Mr 4th quarter and we have one of the finest.
I don't see us parting ways with him, looks like it works for both sides right now!

I don't think we would go over the luxury tax for a 30 year old jump shooter.
