I think that Jeff has a level of professional jealousy towards his brother Stan. Stan's teams for the most part have done better then Jeff's. I also thinks that he wishes he still was coaching. I think he takes his jealousy out on Stan and the Magic.

There maybe family competitiveness involved. Or perhaps Jeff doesn't want to appear to guilty of favoritism, so he's overcompensating.

Or perhaps he's just a bum?

Maybe Stan told Jeff to tell him that so Dwight can get mad and throw up a 50/50 game

I really like that crew...the three of them have good chemistry and are entertaining. JVG is funny and has good insights. I'm not worried about the little slights here and there...it is motivation for our guys.

I think the disrespect we get is going all the way back to last year. We start the season hot as hell, get way overhyped, then come crashing down and everyone dumps on us. This year, we crashed and then leveled out, but it's like no one realizes it. They still see us as "hot starting fakers", or something.

Look it is all well and good. Nobody is going to give Orlando respect. They are going to have to earn it. The way some of these talking heads act you would think that Orlando hasn't beaten any team that were above .500, or that the teams just laid down and gave up. It's like they are on pace to 55 and people are acting like it is no big deal. But this is the same thing the Spurs and the pistons at one time went through. When I was in high school one of my teachers use to work for NBC and NJ12 (a news station in NJ). One of the things I always remember that he told me was that the media is a business first and news source second. They are going to do whatever it takes to sell their product first. Newspapers will do whatever it takes to sell papers so that they can get more money for Ads. TV news casts will do anything to get ratings so they can charge for for advertising. This is why you see more stories about Paris Hilton going to jail instead of the economy. This is the stuff that people want to hear about.

It is no different when it comes to the NBA, ESPN, TNT, or these other sports news sources. The fact is that guards sell tickets. The teams that get all the attention have star guards on them. That is why the spurs get dissed every year by the media and the same with the Pistons. That has changed over the years for the Pistons as Billups and Rip have gotten more respect. My friend who works for the NBA was telling me, no matter how nice a play is it will always be second on the top 10 to what Lebron, Kobe, or Wade does. They are the ones that sell.

Even though guards sell tickets, bigs win championships and that is good for Orlando. Look at the last 8 years it has either been Shaq, Duncan, or Wallace that one won the championship.

Does anybody actually want the Magic to gain respect?

One reason the Magic are a tough "out" on the road is because of the disrespect. Keep it coming!

Exactly. Disrespect means not taking us seriously. Not taking us seriously means we drop 15 3's on your ass and blow you out. As annoying as it is, especially being considered worse then teams like Cleveland who we are clearly better than, it is to our advantage for everyone to take us lightly.

Is writing off the Magic a mistake?

They began the season 14-3 and still have the third-best road mark in the NBA with a virtual lock on the Southeast Division. And yet, the buzz in the Eastern Conference always surrounds the Celtics, Pistons and Cavs.
So what will the blossoming Magic do when the playoffs begin

This happend to the Raptors last year they won 49 games last year. But did anyone actually give them respect? No... Because they hadn't proved anything in the playoffs before. And then they ended up losing in the 1st round to he Nets 4-2.

Magic are pretty much the same way. Win in the playoffs and get some respect.

What the Magic should be wanting is recognition - and they've certainly been receiving it from the media.

There are differing levels of respect, and to say that the Magic get none (like some of our fans tend to insist) is just plain wrong. Losing teams 'respect' the Magic. Teams on par with the Magic tend to share a mutual respect. Teams like the Celtics and Pistons? Well, that's a different story - which is understandable, for now. You can't demand too much respect when you're currently a second tier team in the Eastern Conference, let alone the entire league.

Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

I really don't care about the media. It's the disrespect by the refs that gets to me.

More disrespect: even though the Magic are 8-2 in their last ten, and are 10 1/2 games over them, ESPN ranked Philly above Orlando in their latest hype poll.

Un-fricken-believable!

Philly is 8-2 over their past 10 games as well.

Wins over: Orlando, Phoenix, Detroit

Magic are 8-2 over their past 10 with wins over: Washington, Toronto

Philly deserves it right now. Believable.
