So that he doesnt look like a bad guy.

As for the money, the real difference outside that guaranteed another year is just 4 million. Thus I'm not sold on the extension issue, but i'm much rather sold on the fact that he wants to move to a bigger market. And looking like lebron would just hurt his brand

He's making it his trade request as a bridge to soften the negative impact when everything is said and done, imo.

there is almost no difference between letting Dwight walk and geting "something" in return IF the goal is building a true contender.

It's been obvious for a while that Dwight Howard wants out.

For the past few weeks, I've been at the point to deal him and get something rather than him bolt for nothing.

It makes perfect sense for Dwight to PRETEND like he really is considering staying then take off in the offseason. He gets to play on a team that isn't gutted to acquire him.

The Nets will have a high draft pick plus all their assets to trade and they can build around Dwight/Deron.

In all honesty I think it's about to get worse in about 3 short months, the same length of time since Dwight's trade request.

Thank you. I hate to be the guy with all the doom and gloom, but if we don't trade him before Thursday, we are going to get screwed.

Why would NJ give up there pick when they don't have to? A S&T doesn't benefit anyone including Dwight. They can sign him outright without even giving Orlando a nice "thank you" card.

If we lose him, we are screwed regardless. If we trade him now, we trash our small hopes this season and throw away a chance to compete with other teams for Dwight in free agency.

This. He and everyone else saw how Lebron's "Decision" played out and the backlash that resulted from it.

Not getting any young prospects and picks and or not dumping salary on a Dwight trade. Have you not seen the reported offers? They sure seem to be getting worse.

yep... that deal blows... if that trade goes down, and we get a 33 year old Scola and Lee back for Ryan and J-Rich (who I can consider as better players) then Otis AND Martins should be fired.

Wow, if all these pathetic trade offers are true, Monta/Lee for Howard is not looking so bad.. Get Monta, at least, and still look to move JRich and fillers for Beasley. Move Hedo/BBD in summer for anything really.

Monta/JJ/Beasley/Anderson/Lee.

Is more exciting than

Jameer/JRich/Hedo/Anderon/BBD in 2013 if Howard walks....

I've been saying that since day 1..... These posters don't understand that since they were so high on stealing Ellis for peanuts a week ago... Ellis + Lee for Dwight + Hedo all day.
