I would like to see Jameer back on a 4yr/$16 mil deal. That, or he opts in so we can trade him. We are screwed at the pg position for next year if he walks.

About $4M a year?? Eh, it's alright but I'd prefer going a whole new direction at the PG.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

What direction though? We don't have many options for next year.

Yawn, a slow news day. Or, hell, a no news day. I hope a GM is hired by the end of the week, I understand patience, but it has been over a month now. You have to make a decision at some point.

Jameer opting out would be very bad in my eyes. Aside from me being a Jameer fan, even if I was his staunchest hater, I would not want him to opt out. The top priority of the Magic should be to conserve cap space for next year. If Jameer opts out we'll have to sign a decent replacement. Unless we plan to put Dwight through a season like Deron went through last year in Jersey, and hope he doesn't get disgruntled and keep the trade talk alive. And a decent replacement won't likely come with a contract that lets us keep cap space free next offseason. If we lose Jameer, it would be best for it to be next year.

I think he'll opt out though. He had a pretty solid season after a slow start.

is the priority to field a competitive team next season, so we go out and sign Dre Miller (looking for security) & Dooling (looking for security), or is the priority 2013 capspace? Gotta see the big picture and i'm willing to sacrifice 1 season for that opportunity of building a GREAT team with some very good players. DWade went through 2 seasons of SUCK go get to BACK-TO-BACK finals appearances. Our new GM gotta sell Dwight on patience and make him understand we'll build a better team than the HEAT if he allows us to.

If Jameer opts out, deuces. Offer him 1 year deal, and if he declines it, keep it moving. Best case scenario is he opts in.

not many long term upgrades, but plenty of guys i'd prefer to see provide a different voice at PG for a season. preserving cap space for 2013 should still be our primary focus, even if that means overpaying someone for 1 season.

i don't think Nelson has it any more. i think the small spark that would come out during the playoffs has faded away. his body just can't keep it up anymore. besides that, he's never been a great facilitator, so it's not like he has that aspect to fall back on.

this team is in desperate need of some addition by subtraction, and Jameer, Turk and JRich are the primary candidates on that front. the guys who are held in the esteem of players worthy of 'star status' who don't have the game to back it up.

I'm not so sure those two would be looking for security. I think they would sign here for cheap if they had a chance to not only play with the best big in the game, but, also to contend for a ring. Than we could probably re-sign them in '13 after we get our stars (if we get anyone at all).
