You aren't winning a championship with those players. Not in today's NBA. At best we become the Nuggets. Perennially good to reach the conference semis with zero chance of taking a series from the NBA's elite.

Bynum as the central piece of a team would put big numbers. Big enough that he may just pip Dwight on an all-NBA first team.

But can be stay healthy? He's playin for a contract right now and I think the moment he gets an extension he will start riding pine for 30+ games a season again.

Anyone who's been through the Grant Hill saga should not be in a rush to go there. Particularly if our intention is to retool so we can contend again ASAP. Because that would mean we'll have good enough players around Bynum that would keep this team out of a good lottery pick.

There were two major knocks on Bynum. His selfish bad attitude and his injury concerns.
But after Dwight's back injury and the way Dwight has handled himself in this entire process, can we even say Dwight has an advantage in those areas any longer?

Defense: when Bynum gets involved more offensively, he shows up on the defensive side (see 10 block playoff game). He'd be the man here, not having to defer to Kobe.

Plus - no state taxes in Florida. A max contract in Orlando puts several million more in Bynum's pockets post-taxes. Very important fact for a guy looking to get paid.

Dwight is two yrs older, so meh.
 @ Bynum stronger than Howard
You mean Bynum is dumb
Dwight's defense is far superior to Bynum's.

That's just pure homerism talking. I've been a die-hard Magic fan since day 1 and I live in LA now. I literally watched each guy play 50 games last year. Would I rather have Dwight - yes. But most Laker fans I talk to out here would rather have Bynum. They think Dwight has reached his ceiling and is more concerned with his marketing image while Bynum is finally just tapping his potential. Bynum is superior to Dwight on offense. And has the talent to be a very good defender.
Don't fall into the "Dwight is the bestest and everyone else sucks" mentality.

If the Magic are trading Dwight - I'd much rather have one Bynum than 4 marginally talented players who POTENTIALLY might be decent from Houston.

Not at all, I don't buy it troll.

Duh you aren't going to win a championship with this team, because we would be rebuilding with the goal of building a team for the future.

We are not going to win a championship if we bring Andrew Bynum in and at most we would become the Houston Rockets. In that we would be a team just picking a 15-19 each year which is worse then rebuilding completely.

I wish we would Lamar Odom his ass just to spite him, but as enjoyable as that would be it wouldn't be in our best interest. We could however ask him to rank his top destinations 1-30 and immediately call the 30th option and see what they'll give up. I don't see why everyone seems to believe a team wouldn't trade their expirings and maybe one decent young player for a full season of Dwight. He would definitely sell tickets and if he doesn't resign than its like an expiring anyway. I mean c'mon, you know Milwaukee or Toronto would be dumb enough to do it.

If we get an extended Bynum for Dwight, then I see what other teams will pay for him. Other teams will be more inclined to pay for a guy locked into a contract. And if they won't, then you damn well know Bynum is a bad deal.

Bynum for MKG and future firsts?

Bynum for Beal and future firsts?

Bynum for Monroe and Drummond?

Bynum for Bogut, Barnes and Thompson?

Bynum for Perkins and Harden?

We aren't getting those other players for a Dwight that won't want to extend, but we may get them for a Bynum that is already locked in. Those guys may not make us contenders, but they'll he safer building blocks, and they won't be good enough to keep us competitive single handedly. At least, not yet.

I posted a lot during the lockout and was one of the very few who was 100% on board with a Dwight-Bynum swap. I'm glad atleast some of you have taken off your homer glasses and applied this logic, as it's a given we'll get no more than $.80 on the dollar as compensation for Dwight. Bynum is easily an $.80 return, more so after this past season as he outperformed Dwight.

Like cv said, i'd much rather have one Bynum than 4 marginally talented players.

Am I the only one who thinks Bynum will be untradeable by year 2 of his new deal? He just seems like the type of guy to sign a max extension and then gain 30 lbs. It will be like Amare's deal, except instead of "sorry, my knee is worse than I let on" it will be "sorry, I only play basketball because I'm tall and it pays well."

Why trade the most offensively gifted center in the league - especially while locked up???

Truly gifted offensive big men with size are VERY rare. I would say there has only been two drafted this past decade - Yao and Bynum.

I don't think Bynum is the most offensively gifted center in the league and I think the honor goes to Cousins.

Bynum does nothing for this team but keep us from truly rebuilding and why would we want to stay in the zone of being just good enough to make the playoffs. I would much rather completely rebuild and let Henny do his magic through drafts.

I like the assets of all these teams. Least likely the sixers and warriors though. I cant think of who the warriors have to offer besides curry which they didnt pick up his option.
