Wow, JR is RIPPPPPPPINGGGGG the Magic right now on Stephen A's radio show. saying that they gave Dwight two "first class" air tran tix instead of using a private jet. Also, saying that they promised him they were going to acquire Monta and Stephen Jax on last years draft night. Nothing happened. Wow......... He is going off right now!

So you get Bynum, what happens if his knees give out? what happens if he walks? Keeping Bynum leaves you in purgatory for years. I really hate to say this because RDV is a very nice man, but i dont think the Magic will get a championship in his lifetime. Its unfortunate.......

Irrational? Think you might feel that way because it goes against what you want?
I'd much rather spend the money on Bynum than J smith or the vastly overrated Monta next offseason. You only get so many chances at a difference maker. Bynum is an 18 and 11 guy on a squad where he is sometimes the 3rd option. Those numbers soar in Orlando. We can easily be talking about a 23 and 14 guy who's only 25 years old a year from now if he's given the chance to be a top option.

You can retool around Bynum. You can still draft well around Bynum. Our problem with Dwight is that other than JJ and a single season of CLee, the Magic never added a true rotation player from the draft during Dwight's time. That changes under Henny, regardless of where we pick.

Rigghhhhtttttt, because rebuilding on a guy that a.) can bolt after this year and b.) that has consistent knee problems makes a lot of sense......

Riiiiight. Because crossing our fingers and whispering pretty please when the ping-pong balls are bouncing is clearly the more rational strategy.

It's sad but I believe some of it.

I believe Orlando would stand by SVG over Dwight at that time. I believe that they wouldn't even try for someone like Stephen Jackson.

I don't understand why posters keep saying the "OKC"/draft model of building a team is unproven. if by "unproven" they mean that the draft is not a guaranty for success then they are correct, but tis also correct that ALL methods (free agency, internal improvement, trade, and draft) of building a team are "unproven."

It's beyond logic, it's beyond explanation..but everything so far fits in line with it. I think they're overblowing the whole "Oh they're trying to make Dwight a villain blah blah", but still - I really don't think they actually want a trade right now. I can't think of any explanation for it..maybe Devos has gone senile and still thinks he can convince him or something. It just doesn't make sense

I agree. The Magic are not really trying to trade Dwight. They "tried" with Brooklyn because they wanted to show Dwight they "tried" but were never going to deal him there. The want Henny to try and then a new HC to try, then they will trade.

They are just waiting for the Rockets offer sheet situation. Once Asik has either been matched or he is a Rocket, thats when it gets interesting. Why make a trade now when the salary situation in Houston isn't resolved? You guys are just too impatient...

Stephen Jackson is represented by Dan Fegan, maybe that is why we didn't trade for him.

JR is saying that we turned down 4 of the same deal that are not great for us.

JR is not doing any favors to Dwight by basically painting him as a whiny kid who is pissed he didn't get to ride on the private jet. Really???

This is why Rudolph and Dwight are so angry. They think that every trade scenario we've seen is pretty much the same. They don't understand why the Magic have turned down "multiple versions of the same trade" because it doesn't make sense.

It's possible that the Magic want him back, certainly better for buisness, it's possible that if the right deal presents itself that they would be fine with moving him. Point is, there is not a single reason to rush it. Alowing the situation to develope is the only smart thing to do.

Dwight Howard would be right at home on these boards.

Uhh yeah, just send Pat Williams down there and we'll get the number one pick. Works every time. Haha

Rudolph making bank by being Dwights friend. Wow. Talk about principles. To think I actually had respect for that guy once. But hey, money talks and bull sells.

Fagan is getting paid lol.

Good. I don't want to deal with Fagan anymore. I also did the same in 2k12. Traded away all fagan talent on my squad.

If there's a chance to keep Dwight, we do everything in power to convince him. Way beyond the too many bridges burned idea, reconciliation can happen if both parties are committed to the same idea. That being said, do I believe D12 will stay? No. But we go for the chance because he's the best shot we have to win (even with a bad back) and our fans deserve that much.

However, assuming he is traded, I think the Houston deal is clearly the best for what Hennigan would like to do long term. Assuming we can move JRICH/DUHON (which is feasible) and grab maybe a 1st round pick or two from them, Lamb and some other prospects would be great for us. Of course, under the notion that our picks, prospects, and players pan out. Keeping Nelson, Redick, and Davis is crucial. Those 3 players have professionalism, heart, and teamwork which these young guys could learn from. I don't know if it was Hennigan's plan to keep them for production sake, rather maturity and leadership.

Looking at this as optimistically as possible, if these players (Nicholson, Lamb, White etc whomever) can live up to their potential, with some luck in the draft, Orlando could be better sooner rather then later. People also need to see that this team needs to show some success and that pure tanking isn't going to answer all the problems. At one point down the road, Orlando will need to be able to attract a key free agent (max player or not) it's just how it works. Cap-space, young promising team, and Orlando's location could really pick up whatever mess is left of this saga.

/end rant.

Thoughts? This, of course, is looking at it through a glass that is COMPLETELY FULL of water
