It is nice to get a win every once in a while so that the young guys don't get discouraged, but you usually want to do that with said young guys leading the charge. Glad it gives Memphis a little extra breathing room for when Reke comes back, but I'm rooting for Orlando to get a good pick over most of the other tanking teams. Maybe you guys can get nudged up a spot or two with some lottery luck.

With the 11th pick in the 2018 NBA draft, the Orlando Magic select 5 more years of obscurity.

There's really not much else the Magic could have done there. They got crazy hot from 3 and the Bucks were a trainwreck on defense. The Magic couldn't sit anymore significant players. Hard to hate the team for this L but still sucks nonetheless.

The fact that I buy tickets and support the team probably makes me a little more valued by the organization than hand-wringing on a forum 10x daily and angrily boycotting the TV broadcast. Like it or not it's a business.

I really don't care what anybody else does. People can enjoy their favorite things by supporting or hating everything about it- whatever makes you happy. It doesn't change a thing. I choose to be a fan by rooting for and celebrating improvement. Everybody do whatever you like.I hope they get one lottery ball and win the whole thing, or better yet pick the next ROY with the 10th pick.

I like how Isaac was moving with the ball. Perhaps he's got more potential offensively than I gave him credit. Then he sat...if he kept playing and twisted his ankle again...we'd really hear some moaning here. Your tanking heroes, the Sixers, redshirt all of their rookies...make up your minds. Tanking is a legit strategy but FAR from a sure thing. Blown out by a depleted Spurs team - fire everybody, this team's a mess. Quality win against a solid, healthy playoff team who wants to win-fire everybody, this team's a mess.
BTW, no Gordon, no Fournier, no Ross, Speights didn't play, Afflalo didn't play...always something to whine about. This team IS tanking, they sit guys down quickly and often, they lose almost every game. Forgive them if the guys we complain about show signs of being good players once every couple of weeks. Dammit DJ- miss more! Come on Simms, you didn't come here to distinguish yourself as an important player when the leaders are out.

I would never question another persons fandom, especially someone that buys season tickets and roots for wins and development. However, to pretend like grinding these wins out, due to the vets, is helping this franchise is a Vogel mentality. One could argue that our draft pick is the most valuable asset we have currently.

Was at the game and actually pleased to see them win this game (though I want them to tank).

My observations from the Magic side were heavily focused on Issac (as he's obviously the main piece to the future).

1. He was being abused by Giannis. Though we would assume that he could guard him the best and give him the most problems that wasn't the case at all with how Giannis toyed with him. To be fair he is a rookie so it does make sense for him to get dominated by him.

2. He was gassed so easily... Having a hard time getting up and down the court from start to finish while watching this game (Birch subbed for him multiple times as he was laboring). That was pretty frightening to see and a little concerning seeing how he'd barely be on the court for 3-4 minutes and already have his hands on his knees. Shows that he's out of shape he is (due to not playing for several months) and his current body not being able to take the physical aspect and durability of the NBA. It might take him 2-3 years on that front to actually see him be able to body up guys in the paint.

3. He has no confidence offensively, barely any offensive game, nor does it seem like he has an alpha dog mentality. Right now he's a catch and shoot guy. From what I saw from him and how he carried himself on the court. Good player but I don't think he'll ever be a go-to-guy offensively. Unless his game makes major strides with his confidence and abilities his ceiling to me turned into guy who will most likely be in the Serge Ibaka/Rasheed Wallace/Rashard Lewis bracket which I talked about when he initially drafted him. Though this is a premature observation this to me seems like the most likely trajectory.

This guy is a MAJOR project and unfortunately that is something that fans don't want to hear right now. He's a guy where you'll most likely see a expansive change in his game in 3-4 years. Luckily that gives this team all the more reason to tank and get better players. Luckily for him I feel like he's a guy whose a keeper long term as he provides versatility/intangibles with his defense/size.

The one thing I might add is that we might be regret drafting Issac over Dennis Smith Jr. in a few years (IMO). But we'll see...

How about giving your top draft pick more than 5 shots?

Issac shouldn't be taking more than 5 shots a game... He's not ready for more responsibility with how low his confidence is...

What's annoying is a game like this where Vogel tryhards his ass off with veterans. Play the players that matter, and if they win, they win (Birch, for example, is one of those players, and he was a contributor in this win). But what we're doing here is pure, self destructive nonsense.

Birch was on the court in the late 3rd and early 4th to take the Magic to a strong win. He was a key piece to this winning process.

To the tankers: what do you want? For the Magic to lose out the season?

Orlando must learn how to win. That is a grander priority than getting a "upside" rookie with unknown NBA potential.

Yes Orlando has only three certain starters moving forward: Fournier, Gordon, Vučević. Thus the Magic must upgrade the PG slot and get another wing player. And/But Isaac, Hezonja, and Birch did get important "learning" minutes in this game.

This is an excellent win. The Magic came back from a deflating 5-game road trip with focus and determination. This was a good team win.

p.s. nice to see Purvis and Iwundu get important minutes in the 2nd-quarter. That is nice "evaluation" time for management.

I do. These will be key Magicians off of the bench next year. They need to fit in to the developing team. Keeping them hungry on the bench will aid the future starters in the coming season. Competition for starters' minutes is very important to develop very young NBA players.
