This board will turn on the guy we trade for in 4 weeks or less. Guaranteed. Look at KCP. Dude has rings and was a God tier 3 point shooter. Shows up in Orlando and I shoot the 3 better than him.
No one wanted changes after the finals run, but the front office didn't want to pay Hedo. Kobe couldn't believe we made changes because he felt like our team was good.

It wasn't the fan base who wanted changes. I remember feeling punched in the gut when they traded for old VC.

That is certainly not my experience when I was going to the games and events during that time. People liked Jameer over Rafer (haha), didn't think Hedo was worth the money and called him lazy, wanted Courtney Lee gone for a vet, etc. Bringing in VC was supposed to be "the Magic making a Lakers move" and "acting like the big boys". Revisionist history at best to ignore how things went in the moment.

And the parade of handwaving for the move that was gilbert arenas... good lord.

That isn't to say don't make moves because they could be bad. I just am not going to demand a trade for the sake of one because we had a few bad games with 90ppg injured on the bench.

My experience was that everyone wanted to keep the team together, and it started with not wanting to pay Hedo. Then, they had to get VC to replace Hedo's production.

Wtf has one got to do with the other??

Sorry, but these complete non excuses for the FO's inaction are just laughable.

We haven’t fielded our complete team. I don’t think we will make anything more than small tweaks until we get a solid 20 to 30 games with our legit starters.

Our 4 top offensive players are out. We aren’t going to change course on adding a starting PG mid season as we don’t have any new data.

I would say it has a pretty large impact on what we do.

That's an entirely different argument. An interesting one, but a different one.

NOLA gets much improved defensively, but most importantly, in their present state, they save a lot of $$ and collect two frps. 2 legit young prospects and a complementary defensive minded Isaac to balance Zion and Ingram. I’m presuming that NOLA prefers Trey Murphy’s contract and higher offensive upside to his twin, Herb Jones…they’d resist giving up either, but the rest of the package turns their head. AB, at minimum, maintains Herb’s defensive presence, but offers cost savings and intriguing playmaking potential too.

ORL hates giving up AB & Isaac especially, but low-key welcomes the certainty of Herb as a longer term solid piece (vs Isaac’s injury concerns and AB’s developmental questions). CJ is still an elite scoring threat and a discounted third option of a BIG 3. On many nights, he’ll be the best player…but there won’t be any questions about the team hierarchy behin Franz & Paolo. CJ gets big minutes, but is primarily the sixth man and leads the second unit.

NOLA will never trade Jones, just like we won’t trade Suggs.

Trey Murphy is basically the same player…but younger & better offensively

Just like KCP is older, lesser Suggs

There’s no “never” here…Herb is not some Mt Rushmore of NOLA All-Stars :nonono:

I guess trades are never good…

Hedo for VC didn’t really work…bringing back a overpaid, older Hedo didn’t really work either. KPC is DEN’s Hedo - they wanted him, but didn’t want to overpay. We overpaid and while he’s a good player - DEN isn’t crying themselves asleep thinking about KCP’s shooting

I’ll make it simple…

ORL sends Isaac (drops from $25m to $15m next year!), Harris (expiring)
NOLA sends CJ McCollum (one more at &30.7m)

Why ORL…CJ can still sling it. Great role in ORL off the bench, but getting big minutes. He’s still good enough to command respect. Great communicator, professional bearing, puts up & makes 3’s as well as anyone. Could play well next to AB, as well as starters…showing AB how to play on and off-ball, while AB is already a very capable complement as a defender and, hopefully, finishing plays as a spot up shooter & cutter.

Why NOLA…Above all, money but Isaac could find a home, even in limited minutes next to Zion and/or Ingram.

Suggs/Black/CoJo
KCP/Kennard/25 FRP player(Den)
Franz/CamJ/Queen
Paolo/Isaac/MoW
Goga/WCJ/MoW

This make more sense.

0 chance this FO makes move #1, would require them to think outside the box.

I'll be shocked and baffled if Cole in in Orlando
post-deadline.

0 chance? How you can make sure?
Are you Orlando Magic FO?
How you quantify this chance?
Base on what?

Power of cringe. Takes some extra level of pandering to vocal minorities that don't watch your product, virtue signaling, shoving political messages into children product and elite level of incompetence to have Star Wars logo attached to your product and make one of biggest bombs of a decade. But The Acolyte did it.
And main actress..lol... Let's not go there. Girl is living Kirk Lazarus character ( guy from Tropic Thunder, played by Robert Downey Jr.)

Meanwhile Anfernee Simons is over there building his trade value up dropping 36 points on 8-12 from the 3 point line with 9 assists.

Lol and people still talk trash about this guy, outside Paolo who do we have that’s going to drop 36 points with 9 assists?

Cole scored 35/9/8 a couple of games ago.

Zero chance.

I do think Reaves would be a nearly perfect fit in our starting unit. Would give us 4 guys capable of playing "point guard" at any given time.

Maybe an option to scoop him up as a 3rd team if the Lakers go star hunting in the offseason. Problem is at that point he would have one year left on his contract and we would probably have a hard time affording his extension.

NBA three point line is 23 feet, last night Simons had three pull ups from 30+ feet out he splashed along with clutch plays down the stretch.
