He was below average efficiency guard even by college standards.

He is more like 2-guard too small and too ball dominant to play as SG.
Probably career backup, change of pace guard.

Getting his shot selection under control will be a big defining point for him. He could still fix his efficiency and become a good sparkplug scorer. I mean, we've had a C who's had two seasons with a sub 50% TS%, but he's never had that "go get a basket" type of game Anthony does. We've got Fultz and Gordon and have looked into DSJ before. Hammond loved him some Brandon Jennings before. He might not be completely out of consideration.

I can picture the sales pitch WeHam would use if we took him. "This guy was a top 3 players in his class just over a year ago. We're excited to see him return to those heights in the NBA" or something.

Like I said in another post, I'm not endorsing him, but also not convinced he's a waste of a pick. I'd take a round 2 PG instead of him.

I would take Riller/Dotson/Pritchard in the 2nd if we don't go PG 1st.

I would be happy as hell with this pick. But for some reason, I feel like he may not last to us. Here's hoping.

Ramsey with a 6'6" wingspan could hurt him and may fall into the second round.

Bryan Kalbrosky: NBA Combine measurements that teams are receiving for Grant Riller, per source: Standing vertical: 32.5″ Max vertical: 39.5″ Lane agility: 11.17s Lane shuttle: 2.45s 3/4 sprint: 3.07 Results have been very wonky this year but FWIW, this shuttle time would be the fastest ever.

Those are some impressive numbers ... mixed with those skills with the ball. I'm totally sold in the second round.

And Tre Jones. He's definitely on my list at that point... if he lasts.

I knew the rumors of him having a 6'10" wingspan were bogus.

He's a 2nd round talent in my eyes.

Mike Schmitz has the Magic taking RJ Hampton at #15 on his most recent mock draft. Just revealed on ESPN. Hampton and McDaniels are the most Weltman/Hammond picks on the board.

Thoughts on Cassius Stanley as a second round target?

Also has Vassell going 10th to the Phx. Gotta figure, if Vassell is there, #10 for AG is discussed. With all the AG smoke....man.

Excellent choice. A do-it-all crazy hops 2guard.

I just cant get behind drafting Hampton. I just have no interest in anymore guys with question marks on the jump shot. I heard he was changing his shot mechanics recently. Recipe for disaster. He might turn out to be good but I really dont want to pick him when there should be better options on the board

Cue the RJ Hampton fan-scouting reportsss!!!!

If the FO takes a non-shooting PG in RJ, then they must have a tonnn of confidence in him. Seriously. Think about all of the scouting, data, and analysis they did on Markelle Fultz, and how easily it is a template model to apply on RJ.

They're advocating for Nesmith to the Magic at #15.

Shooting is the obvious swing skill for Hampton.

If the work he's been putting in with Mike Miller actually pays off and he can develop into a reliable shooter, there's nothing stopping him from being a starting shooting guard with secondary creation skills in the NBA. He has the size, speed and explosiveness.

But if the jumper doesn't develop, he's Dante Exum.

I think along with Tyrese Haliburton, the player I've really enjoyed watching the most is Malachi Flynn. He's such a good, smart playmaker and can punish guys going under screens on him. His size and athleticism might limit his upside, but I think his shooting and passing are instant assets to any team.

Theo Maledon and Josh Green are locks for WeHam. No translatable skill, all measurements.

Good point. Also they always take a player that hasn't worked out for us.
