Well they kept Bogut and Barnes and Klay, so packaging Bogut and one of the other two is probably already one of the better offers the Lakers would get, because Dwight is also a 3rd party member who will need to agree to a new contract.

I haven't checked the numbers yet either, but I'm pretty sure there is nothing for the Magic to do anymore in relation to the GSW-Dwight deal. Warriors are capped out. Read the news as a general NBA fan and hope the Magic don't let their league-biggest TPE expire for nothing in 30 days, which is looking probable now.

It's a smart move. Their 2014 pick won't be great and they already will have tons of salary committed for years to come. They aren't building through the draft so it doesn't matter much to them now or in the near future. I'm sure they explored other options but if all they basically had to trade was a couple late 1st for iguodala of course you do that. Especially if that tips the scale to help you get Dwight to come too.

What I was commenting on was the inclusion of the '17 pick instead of '16. If they had sent '16 to Utah, LAL could have demanded '18 and '20. Now GSW limited by league rules to only being able to send one pick (2019) to LAL. Maybe saved themselves a future first by doing that. Or it could mean absolutely nothing and Utah just has a thing for the '17 draft. /shrug/

Hmph. I was of the opinion there would be no free agents worth signing for is this offseason, but I'd be quite happy if we signed Millsap.

When it comes out that Henny has been in the Bahamas and comes back to find that he was supposed to be in town for this part of the season to make trades, this board will be on fire.

More aggressive child support laws in California as well. Just saying...not that Dwight would care I suppose.

Not sure why there was so much talk about what an amazing asset the Dwight tpe was. Not only are magic probably not using it, haven't even been mentioned in talks of trying to use it.

In my opinion, Dwight would prefer GS for the simple reason that they lack a veteran leader. In LA he has to fall in line to Kobe and Nash, in Houston they have Harden who seems like he would put up with none of Dwights antics, plus Hakeem to slap him around.

In GS he gets to play with a bunch of kids. Less serious atmosphere, less pressure.

The Magic could have done the exact same thing Utah did, but for an outgoing 1.55-3.55 mil cap hit instead of Utah's outgoing of a probably 0.00 mil cap hit. In the grand scheme of a 24+ mil deal, a 1.55-3.55 mil difference doesn't seem mathematically significant enough to miss out on signing Iggy and whatever else they can scrounge.

For this, Utah got two future 1st rounders (2014, 2016) , Brandon Rush, and multiple 2nd rounders. What if the Magic proposed equalizing the 1.55-3.55 mil difference by removing the Warriors' 2nd rounders completely, and adding a couple Magic picks like the Lakers' 2015 2nd rounder and the Magic's 2016 2nd rounder instead?

Who's making pitch forks and fire torches with me?

Hennigan was quite excited about using it or at least having the option to use it. So perhaps he is waiting for the right deal? Maybe he weighed his options and calculated there would be a better deal to use it for? WE WILL....see. ;)

I can't believe it is going down like this....

If we were a team contending, I would be down.

Just doesn't fit in with our team as of now.

Dwight is pretty much the last shoe to drop this offseason, so I am not sure what he is waiting for.

I am pretty sure it just expires and we don't do anything the next two offseasons other than draft picks.

2014 FA is useless. Just save the cap to resign our own guys.

True. Good point. Was thinking he is healthier and younger than BBD..

Big Baby is actually younger than Millsap.

We have another full month to try and use the TPE. It's not like there won't be other opportunities. And it's still very much possible that we won't put it to use..

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt
Source says Howard's top two, after trade, are--in no order of preference--Golden State and Houston. Lakers not eliminated, but now behind.

Could you list 5 possible opportunities that will happen in the next month?
