Re: Elf traded to Phoenix for second rounder
If in his first game, Payton leads the Suns to a win over the nuggets and breaks their 4 game losing streak, I will be the happiest fan. They are 1-9 in their last 10. I just can't fathom how a team with Devin Booker, Josh Jackson, Chriss, can still suck so much after 2-3 seasons of the same thing. They flat out tanked hard last year for Jackson and now they got him and still suck.
I hope Payton brings them some extra Ws this year and fills the void at the PG spot. As much as we hate on our PG rotation, the Suns have a pretty bad one too. Cmon EP, ruin their tank and pave the way for Trae to land in Orlando!

It's hard to win with young players. Plus, they still aren't trying hard to win. EP should definitely help them though because they haven't had a stable PG situation all season... knight still injured, bledsoe was a team cancer, mike james sucked - traded, canaan sucked - season ending injury, gray/ulis suck. In theory we've weakened our team as we now have a backup PG running the show, but the problem is Augustin often plays better with more minutes and if he's shooting the 3 ball well it benefits the team in a different way than Payton was able to... so it might actually bite us in the ass.

From OQuinn to Harkless to Dedmon breaking out the second they signed with other teams.
Then you have Harris and Oladipo having career years, it only makes sense to see Elfrid/Hezonja ball out on another team next season.
I’ll give you Dedmon but OQuinn and Harkless breaking out??

KOQ is decent at this point in his career. Harkless has to better his mental senses in order for his skills to be recognized on the floor. Until it happens, he’s just another Stromile Swift in the making. Just another guy with potential, but the mentality for the game is not there.

I’m simply alluding to all of them having career seasons the second they switched teams.
Hakless was considered an untouchable from most Portland fans just last season.

We are not a worse team with DJ starting though. I mean he dropped 18 and 9 on his first game. DJ is NOT a long-term option and he cannot sustain this type of play for the rest of the season. He will commit his bonehead plays and ballhogging a lot more in the future imo. However, his shooting ability changes the dynamic of the entire starting lineup. Just having him out there more minutes helps the offense but he is an extreme defensive liability. When he hits shots, we are better, when he is off, he will be a tank commander. it just depends what kind of DJ we see. I don't think he will hurt or impact that tank that much. Fournier and the returning AG, Vuc, Isaac, and Tross are the ones that will kill the tank.
Like I said, we are not going to suck enough to finish top 3. Expect to finish in the 6-8 range and hope for the best in the lottery and/or trade up.

Their careers may have benefited from the change of teams. Which goes to their favor. And yes, Harkless was considered untouchable last season. For whatever the reason, he regressed. After four years in the league, will he ever figure it out?

This was really painful to watch, at first I thought that was just Elfrid's body language and how he is, it's hurt him to be traded though, he says at the start the "I was disappointed, I like to finish what I start" and just generally seems sad. What bothers me is I really believe that we could have signed him to 5/25 or about that and moved on from DJ Augustine and used Elfrid as a back up which is a perfect role for him. Coming off the bench scoring and pushing the tempo would really suit him, going to miss the guy. I remember his rookie year with Oladipo they played some good defence together! Anyway, very sad, hope he turns it around in Phoenix, he HAS to cut his hair though, he really really does!

I remember him pouting when he was a healthy backup though. not sure he would have been okay re-signing as a backup

Maybe, but I think a case of that being what he is worth, and that is a role, is something he'd have to accept

Don't think so, but it looks like it's hanging a lot lower than usual... there's a shadow on his face the whole time lol. Maybe it's just adjusting to the dry Arizona air....

It wouldn't have had to been an immediate change. We don't have a starting pg anymore. Say we draft trae young... he could have come off the bench until it became obvious they needed to be swapped.

Ha, he had a double take reaction when they said there's "potential" to re-sign him depending how he finishes the year.
He looks really uncomfortable and bummed out there. That question about his hair must have annoyed the hell out of him... he hates when people draw attention to it and now he has to deal with a new set of fans, media, teammates, etc talking about it. He didn't even want to explain the backstory behind it lol. Maybe he'll finally cut it.

I really do for him, it'll help his play and self esteem I think. He really is in a tough spot, he HAS to turn it around now, otherwise he is going to bounce around the league as a 2nd/3rd string point guard who nobody invests in. I'm not convinced the Suns pass on Trae Young because they have Payton now either. It's a really sad end to his time here in Orlando and the position he is in now

Um yea, there is easy way out of it. Cut that thing down. Show you are no longer mentally 13 years old " kid with funny hair in school " . IF you work in army, or even in restaurants, part of your dress code is to be shved and with short hair. You have to accept it on start of your career path. It gets depressing with his hair, he could at least put some band to stop hair from hitting his ball when he plays. Laughable. Nobody can take him seriously with that. It's isaiah Thomas complaining about teammats on defense level laughable.

I swear the more his hair grows out, the more it looks like it suffers from Downs syndrome.
New team Elfrid! Start on a good note by taking the hedge clippers to that hair and finish it up with a new fade. And good luck in PHX and the rest of your career.
