How about a front line of Bamba 7'10" Carter 7'5" Isaac 7'6" wingspans

That is all well and good, but the problem is he can't play PF. He just doesn't have the skill set for it.

Chicago had a pretty soft pf next to him. We have okeke birch and next year Isaac. Position wont matter so much as being able to switch/help and work as a group. Isaac will create havoc for carter/bamba/chuma and the others to feed off of.

That could really work if Bamba would just show something in the next few weeks. Okeke is clearly an important piece, but seems so versatile that he could bounce around position-wise. Defensively, Isaac can play anywhere but, unless WCJ develops some floor-spacing, we're back to where we were with AG/Isaac pairing. WCJ's not quite lightning foot speed might keep him at Center (and even be a problem there)...Hopefully, THIS is the "Evaluation Season" that WeHam claimed several years ago...figure out what we've got, possible fits, start developing a vision for all of these pieces and move decisively to build a TEAM, not just a toybox full of mismatched castoffs with individual upside.

What does everyone keep missing about the obvious statements from the FO and coaches that Bamba is straight up lazy and thus has not been given playing time? Does anyone actually think that our FO and coaching staff willingly sit him out of games when he could be dominating or excelling and helping the team win? Again—it’s novelty and unknown commodities that keep us “hopeful” that “today’s the day Bamba gets unleashed.”

He would dominate a small ball 4 in the paint.

Aldridge and Gasol did it for years, not sure why we could experiment with it. Carter says in the interview that he can defend the position.

Well let's see how it goes. I'm sure he'll get his chance over the next 1.5 years to either fail or succeed. Young people go thru stages and he'll grow out of it or he won't. Last night he hustled the entire game.

You can’t make this stuff up...
Bamba has waited years for a bigger opportunity, might as well give him a chance.

That’s not what I’m talking about... but yes Bamba should get PT.

I just watched Weltman's conference. I respect his honesty, point of view on the timing of these trades, and genuine excitement to truly rebuild. Reading between the lines, it seems like he wanted to rebuild from the jump but may have had directive to give this group a chance. Regardless, I feel comfortable with him (them) overseeing this new rebuild.

I keep trying to make projected lineups, but it's so hard. We have a lot of pieces that will deserve playing time and development opportunity.

Fultz/Anthony/MCW
Harris/Ross/Hampton
Okeke/Bacon*
Isaac/WC/OP*
Birch*/Bamba

...plus 2 2021 1st round picks. Damn, we are really, really young.

Okeke could average more minutes backing up the SF and PF. Plus one of Mo, WCJ, or JI will likely be injured.

I dont think Weltman ever commited to Vucevic core. Never brought good ball handler, never used future assets, always drafted the rawest prospects. In the end i think Vucevic is thankfull regardless. Not everyone can be 1st option on a playoff team. We witnessed a great story. Not a championship but story i enjoyed.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I was just basing it on the talent I saw in that first summer league. He looked like the most talented guy drafted at the time. I thought for sure at the time that he'd eventually be a 20 10 guy.

Paul Gasol is the one I was referring to. He wasn't a quick guy, but was always a PF.

I was thinking about this after listening to several podcasts critical of the Vuc deal for not being equivalent to the Bucks Jrue trade. I don’t really get that criticism. All picks are not equal. I get that they are unprotected but I am pretty sure I would rather have Carter and two firsts from Chicago instead of that package. You had to think that Giannis was signing the super after that trade and barring an injury (which is unlikely because he has been really durable) those Swaps will be unused and the picks are going to all be late. Even if Giannis gets hurt Middleton and Jrue are enough to get them into the playoffs. Carter was a top pick with untapped potential. It’s a safe bet that the pick this year will be late lottery to at worst low 20s. The 2023 pick is sneaky because what if Lavine leaves in free agency in 2022 and that team could be in for some hurt. What do you all think?
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

THis is where it gets confusing to me because all ive heard is that he's decent stepping out and defending.
