From Realgm

The Boston Celtics hope to interview Ime Udoka, Darvin Ham and Chauncey Billups for a second time.

All three candidates remain in the ongoing playoffs as assistant coaches.

The Celtics' coaching search continues to focus on current assistants.

Damn, gonna need to start interviewing some of these guys asap

I said this before, but it's worth repeating.

Just because Jacque Vaughn himself didn't work out doesn't mean that the Vaughn archetype isn't what the Magic should be looking for in their next coach.

Young former player with assistant coach experience from an organization that has proven to develop players.

That's the kind of guy you typically want to lead young guys when there isn't a huge expectation to win games.

Aside from us, are there other teams looking at Atkinson? Maybe Atkinson has the rep for developing youngsters and those other teams are clearly in the compete NOW mode.

Could be
But also could have something to do with him being 118-190 as a head coach and only ever being over .500 once in his career (and even then was only 42-40 that season)

I get that his teams werent very good, and werent expected to be very good, but still, not a good look

I guess it really depends on the vision of our FO if we focus on development purely or what. Who knows maybe the FO has envisions this upcoming season as to "gel" our rookies and sophomores cuz they want a competitive team after this one.

Someone way out of the box would be Jay Williams. He reminds me of Doc Rivers just prior to being a coach, just the way he analyzes the games and communicates.

A likeable coach is important. The year we got TMac and Grant Hill, they came here to play for Doc.

If we're going that route give me Jalen Rose. Usually has better takes than Williams.

But really, I wouldn't want either.

Jalen Rose doesn't pick up the phone.

He dissed us in a spot about who has the most attractive coaching vacancy.

Said we had to hire Penny or continue not being relevant.

When Jalen Rose had a weekly podcast, he had plenty of great stories and takes. As soon as he moved up to a daily degree of exposure, he had way too many hot takes looking for some provocative Stephen A. Smith type BS. Sadly, I no longer give him a listen or take anything he says seriously. Plus his sidekick, Jacoby, tries a little too hard to convince the world he’s down with Wu-Tang.

Portland has to appease their star via leaks and sources. Not how we roll.

Indeed. We actually have to either develop or get a star first to appease them.

Hammon, Billups and (most likely) Mike D are moving forward with second rounds of interviews with Portland.

Any updates from Orlando on who is rising to the top for closer looks? All I hear is outside speculation and rumors of who we like. Any concrete evidence such as what we see from the Blazers and others teams?

I understand we have the lottery tomorrow which makes us more or less desirable so things could pickup rabidly following that. Still, we can’t completely sit on our hands.

I know im late to this, but how can portland pass on becky hammonds as coach?

Is there a more fitting place than portland, or more fitting name for the first female coach than the "TRAILBLAZERS"?

Was regarded as great communicator during his Spurs years, makes sense for Boston. Now they can assemble veteran coaching staff.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !
