Just like the Magic going 5-16 when Fultz was out from pre-season on!

(( Yes: Orlando is 12-13 since Fultz entered the season ))

haha, I'd love this narrative if the plus minus stats backed it up! Sadly Fultz's impact is confounded by all roster instability we've had this season.

I thought it would be interesting to highlight NBA All-[Fresh, Soph, Junion, Senior] teams with the limitation that I could only pick one player per Basketball Reference position (a dumb restraint but easiest to look for) and I had to use their box score stats and ignore injuries (also easiest). The last criteria is that I use the number of seasons played instead of the number of seasons since they were drafted (Also easier). I'm surprised at how poor the 2022 draft was for PGs.

All-Fresh
C - Walker Kessler
PF - Paolo Banchero
SF - Benedict Mathurin
SG - Jaden Ivey
PG - Dyson Daniels

All-Soph
C - Alperen Sengun
PF - Scottie Barnes
SF - Franz Wagner
SG - Jalen Green
PG - Cade Cunningham

All-Junior
C - Onyeka Okongwu
PF - Zion Williamson
SF - Saddiq Bey
SG - Anthony Edwards
PG - LaMelo Ball

All-Senior
C - Nic Claxton
PF - Brandon Clarke
SF - Keldon Johnson
SG - Tyler Herro
PG - Ja Morant

First 5 in at each position in each conference, with the rule that you can only pick one player per position, with positions coming from Basketball Reference. Is this anything? I think the Western 5 rolls in this one (not considering injuries).

C - Joel Embiid
PF - Giannis Antetokounmpo
SF - DeMar DeRozan
SG - Donovan Mitchell
PG - Trae Young

vs

C - Nikola Jokić
PF -Zion Williamson
SF - Paul George
SG - Devin Booker
PG - Luka Dončić

My favourite stat: Win - Loss line.

Good for him, I feel like the Vooch slander in some corners of the internet was getting out of hand, he's still an excellent nba player.

He said he wants to come back to Orlando once he hits free agency if possible, would y'all welcome him back? I know he's not the defensive center we need but my arms are wide open, he's literally the reason we have Franz.

Yes. Please replace Mo Bumba with an actual NBA center.

Read on Twitter

Feels like a bit of a nothing burger both directions?

Hachimura is pretty much just a guy, Magic killer status aside.

Two of those seconds are 5 and 6 years away.

I read this as a clear win for the Lakers. Washington was doing Hachimura a favor here. I think Hachimura is LA's 5th best player, right behind Thomas Bryant.

Trouble with that narrative is that it is hard to establish a connection between Fultz level of play and game outcomes (wins are first row):

Image

Shoot. Seems like we tend to lose even when he ups his game a bit.

But, you see, there is one player that came back to play at the exact same time as Fultz, thus he too is 12-13 in that span. This is his win-loss split:

Woah! What does this mean? What a puzzle!

Who this gentleman might be, you ask?

Whoa, great breakdown. This tells me Cole is important to our success. When he gets it going the bench is terrific. Really fascinating.

Unfortunately, I don't think he's ever going to be a consistent player. Now imagine a consistent scoring threat off the bench instead. What would it do for our team?

I was wondering exactly that. Is this about Cole or is it more about the important role of a bench scorer for our team?

Rui to the Lakers could help them get ahead of the Bulls.

Good grief guys....

I have been saying for a while know that as long as Paulo and Franz are on the team. Our W-L is largely going to be the result of whether our guards realize they play for the Magic and not the other team.

I like WCJ, Bol Bol, and Mo Wagner for what it is worth. Even Bamba has had moments where he has come in and given us something. With JI returning we dont look "stacked" but we do look deep in terms of rotational bigs.

It's that blasted guard play.

The Pacers / Bulls game tonight is a big one. I'm rooting for the Bulls I think. Pacers will represent the new play-in floor with a loss here. Gain half a game with their loss tonight with an opportunity for a full game with a win tomorrow. 3 games back from the play-in sounds awfully doable.

I'd rather go for Wemby/Scoot but it is pretty wild how close we are considering how terrible we were the first month with all the injuries.
