Not sure either question matters per se, I was just talking about conventional wisdom for players "breaking out" in the NBA.

I don't know if changing teams matters. I don't think anyone is that precise about it. :)

ESPN does not cover our team well at all - the only person that has a clue is Zach Lowe.

If we really believe the cap is going above 100 mill., you match him for 15. No doubt about it. It's crazy to think of that much money now, but if that's the reality, then you keep an asset like Tobes. He's part of the core and wants to be here.

We have to match anything for Tobias. Cant let an asset walk for nothing, hes 22 ffs. Zach Lowe and Stein said we have to match any offer he gets.

Go listen to the grantland podcast today between Lowe and Stein. They talk about Tobias.

No way we should let Tobias go.

Pretty much bang on my view. At least he made the list this time!

Who wrote it? Was it Elahmin or whatever his name is? He and Tobias youngest brother (Torell Jr.) have issues over Torell Jr. coming at him on twitter before.

Torell just went at Adam now too.

Yeah, it was Amin Elhassan.

Any link/background to this Twitter stuff?

If he said it he will be gone. Hennigan's slogan when he was hired was, he only wanted players that wanted to be here.

But Tobias wants to be here and he wants to be our guy, he wants to be the face of the franchise, he's just waiting for us to offer it to him.

We don't know what Tobias is thinking right now. These kinds of things can change pretty quickly, particularly once agents, other teams, players, etc. start getting in his ear. If he wants out, he has a ready-made excuse -- the Magic hired his ex-coach who he didn't like playing for. Hypothetically, if his side leaked that, whether true or not, it could be to discourage the Magic from matching. They know Hennigan doesn't want anyone who doesn't want to be here -- so they could be calling his bluff and setting up Tobias's exit. Could be another team that leaked it, too.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/writer/ken-berger/25229735/sources-salary-cap-could-be-significantly-higher-than-projected

What is expected to be a frenzied free-agent period in the NBA is about to become even more chaotic, with league sources telling CBSSports.com Tuesday night that the 2015-16 salary cap is expected to come in as much as $2 million higher than initial projections.

how should this be interpreted? It's nothing right?

Today there was a report that Tobias does not want to come back to Orlando because of Scott Skiles. I have talked to him about it candidly (I’d never repeat what was said) but I can assure you that of the laundry list of things that matter to Tobias, Skiles is not one of them either way

You just saw the Golden State Warriors small-ball their way into a championship. And the whole league loves the idea, it's trending that way. Like I posted in the Vote For Who Is Our Superstar thread, this lineup is going to be DANGEROUS AS F*CK;

Payton
Oladipo
Mario
Tobias (Age: 22, Position: VF; Versatile Forward)
Vucevic
+
A bench giving amazing lineup versatility & depth

Boston seems like a pretty good fit for Tobias. He could be a clear cut top 2 option.

Al Farouq Aminu just signed for 4years / $30M and Middleton got offered 5 years $70M....

If anyone doesn't think the market won't pay or shouldn't pay Tobias the $15M-ish max, they're crazy... and if we don't then we'll end up with an Al Farouq Aminu level player for $9M/year.... Tobias is way better than Aminu.

People need to get past their old ideas of value under the old CBA and recognize everyone is getting raises.

You match whatever offer Tobias gets no matter what the price and within a year, he could be part of a package deal that nets this team star talent.

I think harris and smart followed each other from when the celtics/pistons rumor surfaced. Recent, just not as recent as that tweet implies since it was before free agency opened. Maybe it shows Harris strongly prefers Boston over Detroit. Fwiw, Sullinger followed the Hornets hours before the draft and nothing happened.
