He does not want to Chicago because "It's too cold".
Are you kidding me?
What the hell does he expect in Brooklyn?
Even though there still might be a chance, it's over. I'm sorry but it is.
There are always other (secret) motives that aren't mentioned publicly unfortunately. This is a classic example of running around a question without having to truly answer it. Every star does it unfortunately. It's answers like these (and maybe I'm looking too much into it) that tells me that Dwight has other plans that are more than just winning. He wants to go to Brooklyn for reasons unbeknownst to us basketball fans; which sucks... because we'll never know exactly (unless it's 10 years from now after Dwight retires and he puts out a book or something) what Dwight is thinking or planning on doing... but the signs tell us that Dwight is packing his bags this summer.
If I was Martins and Otis, I would have sat Dwight down AT THIS VERY MOMENT, right before the deadline and asked him (after selling the idea of staying with the Magic to him), are you staying with us or not? If Dwight doesn't give a straight answer or his attitude is questionable... or if Dwight flat out still says "No, I want a trade out"... you have to move Dwight and get something in return... ANYTHING. You just don't let a player of that caliber just walk away for nothing. I know there are reasons that might suggest that letting Dwight walk away might be better for rebuilding, but for crying out loud, what kind of impression is the organization painting to other players and teams (if or) when we do that? That's not good.
This issue should have been taken care of a LONG time ago. The FO dropped the ball on this big time... Otis being the main culprit.
