Live always looks good when it comes to screenshots but when its in motion.....

I’ve been waiting so long for a good NBA live. I remember back in the day when they actually gave 2k a run for their money. Competition is good for everybody and 2k has been getting a little too comfortable these last couple years If you ask me.

2k pretty much charges you for a 60 dollar roster update at this point. I really don’t feel that they have felt the pressure to have to do much more than some aesthetic changes such as how the menus look and a couple upgrades to the same modes they’ve had for 7 plus years now.

That being said, I’m still going to get it again this year and until NBA live can make some changes to that clunky gameplay they have I’m going to stick with 2k again this year.

Wow they've stepped it up this year....maybe I'll give Live a look, feels like forever since I bought one. Last one I played was the one with Dwight on the cover, can't remember what year it was.

SPOILERS FOR SUPER SMASH BROS DIRECT

But main takeaways:

[*]Simon Belmont from Castlevania is playable
[*]Richter Belmont (Echo of Simon) from Castlevania is playable
[*]Castlevania stage looks incredible with a bunch of Easter Eggs from the series
[*]Dark Samus (Echo of Samus) is playable
[*]Chron (Echo of Ike or Marth....can't really tell) is playable
[*]King K. Rool is playable
[*]Stages can be set to morph into other stages mid-combat (looks amazing)
[*]Several modes were announced that I can't really recall, but they looked great.
[*]One Mystery mode that they can't reveal yet
[*]Over 900 songs, over 28 hours worth of music in total
[*]Knuckles Assist trophy
[*]More characters to be announced! I believe we are at 72 so far.

Was a really great Nintendo Direct, I'd suggest any fan of the series watch it. Can't wait for this game

As someone who has never played Smash Bros I'm probably going to have to grab this one (only reason I haven't is because I've been a single console / playstation guy since PS1).

Live 18 was actually pretty good and was solid redemption for EA as 2K has been kicking their ass routinely since 2K11. Gameplay was far more improved (still lacked fluid animations though which seemed to now be addressed in Live 19) and the graphics were finally up to next-gen standards. I disagree with the notion that Live always looked good in screenshots because honestly 2K was destroying EA in the graphics department year after year. Live has finally caught up in that department. Those screenshots I posted look lifelike and the game play that I have seen so far on Live 19 looks really good. I will end up getting both games simply cause I love basketball so much. I think Live 19 will give 2K legit competition this year.

Can't wait for the demos of both games to drop. Speaking of that, NBA Live 19 demo will be available on August 24 on PS4 & XBOX One and The Prelude for 2K will drop on August 31. Anyone picking up 2K or Live or both; we gotta link up so we can get games in or set up a league amongst us Magic brethren.

Finally got to watch the Nintendo Direct myself. I cannot wait until December lol! Smash is looking incredible!

I'm getting 2K on day one as I have a Pro-Am team I play with, so let me know about that league.

But Live looked like it was fun last year, if they keep improving it, I would love to get it. 2K desperately needs competition to stop feeling so safe and bringing us subpar quality games. The only reasons I buy 2K anymore is because of Pro-Am, my friends all play it, and I love the Magic and basketball. So I'm pretty much stuck getting 2K over Live for those reasons right now.

Everyone who is getting 2K, are y'all getting it on the PS4 or XBOX? I always get it on XBOX but I'm making the switch to PS4 this year since I have more friends who play it on there.

Finally finished all the Chapter 1's for Octopath Traveler. Kinda wish it was 5-6 characters instead of 8. After the first 4-5 I was struggling because I didn't particular care for doing everyone's intro (though I rather enjoyed Tressa's who I did last). On the plus side the first time you kill a Cait = jaw drop, lol.

PS4 for me. Have been getting it on there since 2K15.

I’ve always gotten it on Xbox. May consider switching to PS4 as well.

I actually got 2k18 about a month ago on Amazon for like 15 bucks for the switch as well. It’s actually quite a good port and Is really a fun way to play my Gm/My league on the go. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of it.
