oh only an interview. that's nothing. I thought there was something saying they're closing in on an agreement.

LOL woj/hoopshype reported that NOP wanted and got permission to interview JV. I assume this Nets assistant JV is the same JV whoused to coach us right?

I mean there a re a lot of similar names even in the league so this might not be the same JV.

Orlando management is said to prefer hiring a candidate with previous head-coaching experience, even with a roster full of younger players who will need time to develop. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Jason Kidd and Kenny Atkinson, who coached the Nets before becoming an assistant with the Clippers, are two names that keep coming up.

I hope this is the case where somebody else comes out of left field. At this stage, I'd prefer a young unproven coach who creates a hunger for improvement and not somebody who is only out to reclaim themselves. If we had gotten the No. 1 pick, then sure go and get somebody who could get us to the playoffs in a year or two. But right now we need somebody who will encourage and play the young players without the pressure to win. Somebody like an Unseld Jr, Ham or maybe even Cassel.

With Carlisle to the Pacers its Portland or Clifford wants to be back here :P I would be shocked if they hire him in Dallas. Seems similar with regards to character to Rick.

you gotta assume Cliff was smart enough to calculate the possibility of not being offered any gigs, right? If so, what does that say about us? He was willing to go jobless than to coach the young players we have? That's no bueno.

Does he get paid either way?
If he was fired then I think he would, but walking away? If it's mutual are they still paying him?

If they are, then I think he's fine. Getting paid the same without having to go through a rebuild?

Strong odds Cliff sits out next year based on the current openings. Portland seems like a lock for Chauncey and I expect Kidd to go to Dallas.

He's getting paid out the last year of his contract to sit around and do nothing. I'm sure he's fine

He was visibly frustrated at the end of the season. Loss of veteran core propably stinged more than ability of young core. I wonder if our front office wanted him around screaming at players like a madman. It could truly be a mutual decision.

Clifford, probably thought he could get the best out of one of these underperforming teams thats **** the bed. I am curious to see what he could do with a good team. Unfortunately, for Clifford, so many of the good teams have really good players who seem have a bit of a say in the matter.

I am not sure he ever gets his shot at a contender. Of course I don't see him taking over a team like ours either. Maybe it's harder to find a new gig than he thinks.

Id be shocked if Becky Hammond didnt get one of those jobs. especially the dallas one, like theres no way Cuban can justify hiring a retread like Kidd over Her. Not saying its right, but if Kidd gets a job and she doesnt, im sure there will be alot of angry people out there

I still think she ends up in portland, but either way, shes getting a job somewhere this year, and i doubt its ours
