Wade was an absolute freak both physically (6'11'' wingspan on 6'3.75'' barefoot height) and athletically before he slowed down later in his career because of injuries.

I love Suggs as a prospect, but Wade is one of the 50 greatest players in the history of NBA and a first ballot Hall of Famer. No need to throw unfair comparisons on the kid.

Wow...I wasn't aware of the wingspan and my prime memories of him are being not so big (true) and, at least, picky with his explosiveness. Maybe efficient is the word. He'd play that crafty old-man game and then, out of nowhere, cram over your 7' Center. There's something awesome about efficient use of athleticism-like Larry Bird gently laying it off the glass when he could easily dunk it. I'm sure I'm projecting optimistically, but Suggs seems to emanate that kind of good sense. That stop and go stuff is so effective without blowing out your afterburners on every play.

Hey man you were 2/5 on the No/Yes atleast

I think Billups/Lowry/Holiday are much more comparable to Suggs

Maybe...I don't think your 3 approach Suggs' and Wade's athleticism. All 3 are very good, but not elite shooters-mostly known for rising to the occasion in big moments (Holiday defensively this time). Holiday is a great player and likely a superior defender, but has never been any kind of leader. I suppose we could pick and choose traits to debate all day from great players...that's a good place to be for an ORL draftee for a change.

I don’t watch college sports so based on the tone of your question I am assuming Ohio State. Listen my main concern was due to the interview. He’s on our team. I am rooting for him.

There is no bigger star position in sports then Star Quarterback. You can have no charisma and a terrible personality and attention/endorsements/money/opportunities come easy

I think it’s hard for comparisons but i think with him I think we have a multiple all star guy we will see if he gets better than that.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

He doesn’t need to be more than that. Getting a multiple all-star lead PG in today’s NBA is a fantastic way to begin a rebuild.

If Franz can be anything close to Gordan Hayward / AK47 as some are comparing then we have another great piece.

We know what Isaac can be when healthy. All he needs to do is stay healthy and be himself.

Those 3 alone could be our core. I haven’t even mentioned RJ, Fultz, Cole, Chuma, WCJ or others. Even if they don’t stay they could bring back something in trades.

Start there and then look to add something in free agency once we are showing promise in the near future.

I don’t really see Suggs and Wade as same level athletes either though. Wade is almost a unicorn level guy to me. A+ athleticism with high skill level, 6”11 wingspan, best shot blocking 2 guard of all time, FMVP, 3x champion, one of the best SGs ever. Unfortunately injuries robbed him of a longer prime. Just a tough guy to make comparisons too, it feels a bit unfair to Suggs.

But yea I agree, you know Suggs is a good prospect when there’s so many traits comparable to all star players.. This feels much different than the Hezonja-Klay, Gordon-George, Elfrid-HOF comparisons that got thrown around here

yes. Ohio State is a big name in college football. yet he chose to play in little Gonzaga in Washington state. i think people read too much into interviews from kids. yes, they may have been in national spotlight, but they are still kids. I hate to think of millions of people listening to me talk when i was only 20.

thats why i still sit more on Billups comparison. Chauncey was never the most athletic person, but he had athleticism, would defend strong, was a leader on and off the court, improved his 3 pt shot as time went on. he just made the right, winning plays. thats how i see Suggs

Yeah I really like the Billups comp along with Lowry/Holiday too. Two way guards that use their physicality and can play on/off ball, have intangibles and leadership, make winning plays and always seem to be in the right place at the right time. No real weaknesses. Good shooting but not Lillard/Curry level. May not be a 25PPG scorer, but definitely possible.

I was a Hank Pym level genius giving talks on superconductive chemistry at UF at 20! All of these guys should be on my level obviously.

I watched a few Paige Bueckers highlights since the draft and she's a better prospect than him.

Suggs is going to be a feared 1 or 2 in the league in a few years.
Because with that hard-nosed style of play and that big frame of a body that will fill out with tons more muscles... he's gonna be physically hurting opposing guards.

This team will not be full of loofa poofs.
Keep your politics out of my sports

I am not comparing a kid Interviewing at 19 to a 32 year old interview. Most of these players that are drafted in the NBA are in the 18-22 range. His comment was just off based on his peers of the same age range. But whatever, it’s done and he’s on the team so I am going to watch and hope for the best.

But there is some basis. Any of you old-timers remember that cringe-ad Dwade did for..Converse? Something about falling down 7 times but you get up 8 times? That was before he morphed into the flopper that we know he is.

Kind of like Suggs... I saw a lot of games where he drives, gets fouled and falls down but gets back-up. LOL
