I decided not to comment until the game was over because it felt like recently we win every game when i comment on it during the game

Great loss, kept it competitive. Couldve let it be a blowout once we were down 32-15 but kept it close

People seem to get too hung up on traditional roles and position names. We play a zone and switch a lot, so defensively Hendricks wouldn’t hurt anyone. Offensively, we would have 4 guys 6’8 or taller with all 4 being capable shooters so the mismatch would be in our favour.

I just don’t think upsizing is the way to go defensively.

I think Franz and Paolo will and have at times this year both struggled trying to chase smaller, quicker players.

Paolo’s not really a good defender against anybody small or big right now and Franz is better suited to defend guys who are more his size that aren’t blazingly quick like when he did a very good job on Brandon Ingram.

This idea of a big lineup is better than how it actually works in a practical sense. At least that’s my two cents.

Fair. It’s a bit of a game of compromises and trust in future development. If Paolo and Franz are gonna play big then they need to put a lot more work in on the boards and rim protection. That’s going to hurt us down the line in crunch situations if we can’t secure rebounds the way it did with Vuc and Gordon. We’re also going to need a good big who can cover WCJ for games missed. The options become much less versatile after Hendricks and Walker, imo.

We could split the diff and go for someone like Amen Thompson or Anthony Black who can both lockdown a perimeter and have the size to crash boards and get opportunistic blocks - but they don’t bring the shooting we need.
A jumbo lineup of Black, Franz, Paolo, Hendricks, and WCJ could be a lot of fun.

Did we really attempt 49 3 pointers? Why?

I will say this, ever since we started taking 3 pointers early in the games, teams magical hitting 3s has waned. Miss or make at least the other team isn't having unbelievable 3 point percentages against us. So, I'll take it. Hopefully next season we'll get the picture.

Giddey gives me hope for Black.

Didn’t they also poach that shooting coach from the Spurs?

They sure did. Sam Presti knows what he's doing over there.

Taylor Hendricks is a elite rim defender and he is versatile defender who can defend the perimeter also. He could be the one we need.

Memphis packed the paint all night and dared everyone to shoot threes.

The number is also a bit skewed because the game was extended so much as the Magic tried to come back.

Yeah, he looks like a combo forward that can switch on defense. He'd fit so smoothly with Franz and Paolo while also being able to replace either one.

I would prefer Jarace Walker if we go for a forward with our pick but if he's not available I'm down for Hendricks.

The Magic right now don’t really have a capable backup forward.

Bol stinks
Admiral is bottom of the roster filler
Houstan is barely out of his teens and while intriguing, is not good yet (and is also more of a 2/3 wing)
Isaac can’t stay healthy
Okeke can’t stay healthy and also stinks.

There’s plenty of opportunity for a 25 MPG backup 3/4 type.

Yeah. Interesting how that role became a position of need as the season progressed. We need a swing-man, too. Gradey Dick would look sweet there.

I hate not addressing the guard rotation in the draft, though recency bias has me much less in favor of blowing it up than earlier in the season. FVV is always a nice panacea if we don't draft a guard.

Are we still on this FVV fantasy? I thought the play by Fultz and Cole recently and this year has shown our PG rotation can do. Or no?

Also Bronny James, LeBron's son, has shot 5 for 8 from 3 point line in the McDonald All American Game. His shot looks legit and he could be a top 10 pick next summer. Should we already be hyped about him and land LeBron to pair those two up? Just my fantasy draft thought. lol :D

Plus I suggest some of you pay more attention in Dallas and Luka situation. If Dallas fail to make the Playoff this year, wait for the domino to fall. Maybe our coach Mosley can convince Luka to Orlando. lol. I know I know. Pure Dreaming!

Spot on. The impact of a good rim protector is gane changing. I think their is a chance the FO spends a lottery pick in Dereck Lively jr for this reason

Goodness, Cole and Suggs single handedly tanked our offense tonight.

This game is why the Magic cannot and should not tank. THere is so much for the players to learn. Orlando actually won the final three quarters.

And what we are learning is that #1, Orlando needs a SG that shoots and #2 Suggs is not a SG.

Not a lot to say about a 5 point loss when the team missed 35 three-point shots. Seriously: if the Magic had shot only 32.7% with the three-ball, Orlando wins this game.

So what is learnt here: get a SG that shoots.

Our guards combined for 1-17 3PT.

Stellar.

We would be the worst rebounding team by far with a frontcourt of Wagner, Banchero, Hendricks. No chance of winning something here.
Hendricks could be great backup, but nothing more. Just not a good fit with Banchero.

After the Magic sort out the fiasco of a SG rotation, I see this as the Magic's third pressing priority!

Fultz/Anthony
xxxxx/xxxxx
F-Wagner/xxxxx
Banchero/xxxxx
Carter/M-Wagner/xxxxx

The management needs to solve for X this off-season. The rookie(s) fill in some of this, but forward depth is going to be super important.
