I don't believe so. Caleb lives at Advent while the other 6'8 wing been chillin in Miami.

We'll see how it plays out. If nothing is done this week, a telling sign will be who shows up to Vegas to support the team.

Who is chilling in Miami? Jett isn’t 6’8”
6'6, my bad. I had his previous listed height burned into my head.

I am hoping you’ll see the Magic get in on the Kuminga/Sacramento trade that’s coming… Include Jett and get back Keon Ellis or Jackson Davis…

Another out would be to trade Jett to Brooklyn for Clowney or Whitehead—his dad is a coach their so could be realistic…

Either of these open up room for Houstan to return in minimum deal.

Ellis and Clowney are not realistic....because they're good

Vet-min contracts count in full to the cap, lux-tax and aprons. What is unique about them is that they are an unlimited exemption. That is, no matter the current spend, a player is always allowed to be signed to such a deal (with the consequences thereof.

For example, the Magic has this vet-deal to sign for Mr #15, but to do so would throw the team over the 1st apron.

....

One thing of interest here: the two-way contracts do not count to the cap. As up to 50 NBA games can be played, this will be a super useful exemption for Orlando this year. In particular, as mentioned by someone here, one of the two-way players could be the effective 3rd big until M-Wagner returns in full.

On the summer league the Magic has Kylor Kelley, Lynn Kidd, and Márcio Santos. As best as I can tell, Kelley is ineligible for a two-way contact.

Lynn Kidd and Márcio Santos are both potentials here. Kidd is a five-year collegiate who is a good-body. Santos has Euro championship experience.
Two names to follow for a two-way slot in early season use ???

Paolo 27 pts
Franz 23 pts
Bane 16 pts
Suggs 15 pts
Wendell 12 pts

Black 10 pts
Tyus 10 pts

That puts us at 113 pts. If we find 10 more pts, we'd have the #1 offense in the league.

I think the team will learn to push the pace so everyone can get their numbers. When players see their assist numbers going up, they'll be more willing ball movers.

We are propably done. Decision on Howard based on his work in the summer. No reason to act now.
Great coaching hires. Its not only us here thinking Mosley is good with relations but below averave at proper basketball planing. Guess your head coach doesnt have to be the smartest. Sometimes its even a detriment.

We are hard capped. We can not exceed the 1st apron under any circumstances.

We have roughly 1.5 million left. Caleb is a 4 year player so his vet min is higher and we can’t sign him to a standard contract.

A two-way contract may be viable but I’m Caleb is looking for more.

Just a thought...

IF Beal is bought out and is looking at a very small deal - like $5m for one year...and he lists a small handful of teams that he'd want to play for and ORL is on top of it...would we pursue it? I'm sure we could unload Jett, with some srp sweeteners if there was a good enough reason to...or even Goga in a pinch. If we're really all-in, you'd have to at least consider it. Beal would, unquestionably, be the best $5m player in the league.

I'm not a big fan of his, but sometimes the math is overwhelming - the guy is a very good player once you take the contract out of the equation.

Beal is a zero on defense and hasn’t looked good in awhile. Seems like a distraction from trying to step up our level of play up.

I really hope we can dump Jett and sign Beal by another part of MLE (12m/2y). Even though he plays poor defense, he will be a good fit for Black.

However, I think this will never happen since Orlando shows less attention than other cities like Miami or LA.
Moreover, our FO seems like a Jett Howard fan? I don’t think they are preparing to dump him….

Because Jabari got paid as soon as he was able to. My thought is delay is due to Paolo trying to have the 5th year be a player option instead full 5 year deal. We know he is getting a max deal, so the hold up to me seems a bit strange unless the player option is what he is negotiating.

I didn’t know rookie contract extension could be negotiated with a player’s option on the 5th term, I thought that was an automatic team option.

But regardless, it is a little strange that we have not heard anything about his offer. I assumed he’d be the first news we heard once the season ended. But he will be a RFA so if he doesn’t want to sign his extension, we’d just match whatever offer he gets. However, I always think it is a gamble for players to go into a contract year without a guaranteed contract because of the possibility of injuries. So, I do hope, for his sake that he signs soon.

Jalen Green signed a contract extension last year with a 3rd year player option, so I believe it is doable.

Respectfully, that simply is untrue. If it were true, then a team could not go from the 1st to 2nd apron, obviously.

What is true, I believe, is that the vet min deals cannot be for a second year and can only be for one year.

Under ALL circumstances, a team MUST have 14 players on the payroll. By definition then, there must ALWAYS be a mechanism to sign a player to get to 14, no matter what the cap is at. And that is one-year vet-min deals.

With respect.
