probably because almost everything the team has done lately has said, We dont want you here

If the silence around the league on him says anything then not many teams want him either... at least not at the price he wants.

again, name me another RFA that has received an offer from another team? everyone is concentrating on UFA right now, since agreements can be done right away

Price he wants? Or is price it will take to scare the magic off not possible because they will max anything?

Exactly. And even then once Harris is able to sign an offer sheet the Magic get three days to match. That's too much time for a team to be waiting to find out what the Magic are going to do. They risk being unable to find anyone if they sign Harris before they explore every other unrestricted option. By the time teams turn their attention to him and other RFAs, there may be only one or two other teams with the cap space available to make a tough offer to match.

Okay, so if players could actually start signing contracts right now... which teams still have serious cap space to work with? Who are in the running for Harris once the attention goes to the RFA who haven't agreed with their original teams?

Hard to say because there are a lot of teams with cap holds that could get them to enough space. LA, Detroit, Phoenix, Portland, New York, Sacramento, Dallas.

I would assume the Portland will be a big player. they have definitely lost a lot this offseason. Aldridge,Matthews, lopez, Batum and Afflalo. They have only been able to retain Lillard... and currently do not have a viable SF. Lillard can't take allllll the shots. Can easily see them making a pass at him and jordan to help round out the starting unit.

I'm curious about Tobias Harris. Could someone give me details on his game. Who does he compare to? What parts of the floor does he operate from? How does he get is points? What positions can he guard?

Hearing that Tobias Harris may be closing in on a deal he'd agree to, team still unclear, but he's made progress towards a deal

He tweeted nothing. I learned nothing.

Since we're talking about delusional deals, how about Harris and our Lakers pick for Calderon and Porzingis?

when he first came, Orlando used him as a PF. Last year he played both PF and SF and this year predominantly SF. He worked last summer and really improved his 3 pt shot to make it not deadly, but a respectable part of his game. He isnt a point forward, his game wont work to create for other people, but he isnt the black hole some people make him out to be. He will bully smaller SF's around the basket, but doesnt really have the size to play PF full time, we saw him run out of gas at the end of the year the first 2 years when he spent a lot of time at PF. His defense isnt great, but is decent one on one. Defense for our entire team was hard to judge, as the entire team was confused on team defense roles and responsibilities. I really dont think he truly hits his prime for another 1-2 years. His first 1.5 years in the league he didnt see a lot of playing time.

The other thing is he isnt a team cancer, he has gone quietly to the bench for 2 years when asked to by the coaching staff, without making any public waves about it. He was also the most active player on the team in community involvement.

If the Knicks see Harris as a 25+ ppg guy, this trade is not unreasonable on paper. Calderón is an overpaid backup and Porziņģis is the same risk now as when Orlando scouted him. One could argue that New York might probably be gaining the greater improvement. For Orlando, the versatility of its depth gets expanded.

I kind of like this trade idea.

Yeah same actually, couldn't resist showing some magnitude of fairness. Knicks get their hometown boy in Harris as well as a chance at a high pick from the Lakers. Like you said, if they believe Tobias can become a 25 point per game guy, Knicks fans become less upset with Phil, and Hennigan is ecstatic he is able to get the player he promised to draft at #12 a year prior. Few years down the road, we have a lineup of Elf/Dipo/AG-Mario/KP/Vooch with whoever we bench being a super sixth man.

Anyways, something more fitting for that pipe dreaming Knicks poster would be Tobias for Porzingis, Calderon, and their unprotected 2018 1st

We now can add locker room cancer and attitude to Tobias's many flaws. It 's funny but I had the impression from those that have been around him that he was a good guy. He does want to win and has high expectations for himself and others. I had thought that was something you wanted on your team. Maybe he will go to Europe since he apparently has so little value to many.

I don't know what he will get paid but trying to make as much as you can even if you end up with less doesn't make someone a loser. It happens all the time in every field. Nobody will give you more than you ask for.
