Even if we have to take on Okafor and Posey, I do it in a second. 'Meka isn't Boozer, but he'd still be a great traditional four man next to Dwight. If we somehow had a starting lineup of Paul/Redick/Lewis/Okafor/Howard, that probably makes us the favorites for the title no matter what happens in free agency. Even if Chicago added LeBron and Bosh, we're still right there with them.

I agree. Okafor isnt that bad. He will get you 10 and 10, plus almost 2 blocks a game. He also only turns the ball over about once a game. He can provide solid defense and rebounding. Yes, it is a little bit of a price tag, but it would push Lewis to the 3 and you could really shave off some money from him and add it to the value you get with Chris Paul. I could live with a lineup of Paul/Redick(or MLE vet)/Lewis/Okafor/Howard. That SF/PF/C front line would be a very strong front line. Okafor has very good defense, he could help protect Howards back on D, so it isnt Howard that always has to leave his man to help other players.

Not sure if this has been posted here or not, I didn't really look that hard so apologies in adavance. Anyway, apparently, VC and Jameer were offered, Otis of course denied which means the rumor is true. there's a Chris Broussard video where he talks about the situation in NO.

I would attempt to do a back flip if Otis lands Paul.

I think ORL/NO/IND make good partners

IND is looking for a pg and have been said to be offering the #10 in trade talks. Hello Nelson!!!

NO is not looking to move CP3 but with a offer centered around

#10
Gortat
Petrius
Murphy
Bass
I have played around on the TC but to no avail!! Does anyone else agree with me on these players would get a deal done?

The reported offers for Paul have been rich in talent. Orlando has reportedly offered Jameer Nelson and Vince Carter, though Magic GM Otis Smith denied it. And New Jersey, which has had several discussions with the Hornets, has reportedly offered Devin Harris and the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft. Both trades would give the Hornets good talent and save them money long-term.

Oh my:
Adrian Wojo on Twitter: "Hornets owner George Shinn issued a rambling statement that did not rule out the trading of star Chris Paul."

I would like to see that statement. I was completely wrong, and while it may not happen, it is legit.

word is that the deal of him selling the hornets started falling out a few days ago, so he is looking to shed salary in a big way.

While I haven't been really posting on this subject over the past few days, or nearly as much as I normally would, o just wanted to share my opinion.

I think cp3 has played his last game as a hornet. The evidence is mounting, and while we may not be his destination (I'm hoping we are of course), someone will be very lucky in the coming days.

-bower does not deny the availability of Paul, only the reporters say that Paul is untouchable, no one within the organization itself
-cp3 says he is open to a trade, and wants to win as opposed to the organization saving money
-shinn apparently issues a statement, not once denying the availability of Chris Paul.

We will see in the coming days, maybe even hours
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

yeah, I think the hornets sale may be falling through, i read an article somewhere (i'll try to find it) but the long and short was that the buyer had oil money partners, and this gulf mess was affecting the money situation for the hornets buy.

And also, just speculation on my part, but perhaps cp3 really wants to get the hell out of there because he knows the deal is falling through, and he has his buddy lebron pass this through to WW Wes to increase his chances of going ANYWHERE, and sure him and lebron would be a strong pair and they're buddies, but magic also probably have the realest shot, strictly because of what we offer for dumping salary. Of course cp3 has to issue the politically correct statement about being "fine with staying" but i'm starting to really feel hopeful about this.

Also, maybe hornets are more interested in vc, nelson, peaches for cp3, posey, meka strictly due to peaches expiring soon vs length of gortats. Maybe the sale quietly fell through and shin is really clearing looking for savings in a serious way.

Yeah doesn't look like we can beat the Nets' offer aset wise, but I do wonder what the actual worth is of our ability to rid Hornets of their other big contracts - the whole point of them them trading Paul really - is (and whether the Nets would be willing to take those on instead of landing a couple other top tier free agents)...

It's not over until it's over

Also... if it just so happens that we nab Paul somehow... should we rule out an s&t with Cavs for Lebron? If he is set on playing with the best point and center in the league, can the Cavs really do anything about it? :P

is there a link to the "rambling statement" ?

edit:
from 6/22

Now the sale of the team to Chouest is on hold. Team president Hugh Weber said recently that uncertainty caused by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has contributed to delays in the transaction because Chouest and many of his business partners work in the oil industry. Chouest owns a company that designs, builds and operates supply vessels for companies operating offshore oil platforms in the Gulf and around the world.

if he really wants to play with the best point and center, he can sign for the MLE :D . That way the team isnt gutted completely and he has a better chance of winning it all. Plus he can do a short deal and then just resign for a lot more, kinda like what happened with Jordan near the end.

i think it's great that cp3 says he wants to stay in nola as long as they are committed to win. yet with their terrible contracts they are stuck with what they have, which is not much.

One thing I don't really understand about the whole thing is why they would want another PG. They would be trading Paul because they have Collison for a hell of a lot cheaper. They don't need or want to invest more money in the PG position.

Wouldn't they rather have Michael Pietrus who has a player option at the end of next season? If Pietrus went to a team with a great passing PG and not much other talent, he would probably have a big year and play for a new contract. By no means do I think the talent is equal or it makes the trade seem any more fair, but if they are shedding salary...that is the way to go.

I think if they are really looking for relief, they don't want Jameer or Harris. The #3 pick is great but they really don't have much to offer outside of that, IMO.

On a separate note...at this point, if CP3 does actually get traded, and he doesn't come here...I am going to be sooooooooooooooooooo depressed.

If he stays in NO, I can deal with that.

I can't deal with the thought of missing out on creating THE BEST possible pairing in the NBA.

I doubt that he'd pass up the chance to make some change for merely dominating the basketball world. Either way, I'm sure we could snag some vets looking for a championshion on the cheap and a sunny Florida vacation on the side... All in all I'd say there is a good .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 chance of all this happening :D

[edit] the website decided to cut out my 1 at the end of the digits, I guess they know better

Where's Deezy, hasn't he had some inside info?

All I've heard is that Chris Paul is currently the top priority for the Magic, and everything else is on hold until they determine whether that deal can be made.

Agreed.

If you would have asked me 24 hours ago, if you would have asked me do we have any realistic chance at Paul, I would have said no.

But the statements all seem to say something different. They all kind of sound like "We like each other, we really do, but......".
