DM screen caps or not... they are irrelevant at this point imo... idk why the folks at TBN got so worked up over them... the time frame of the DM isn't anything new

i don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but that "team feels like 2009" comment came after trouncing the Nets. i think the team has been lulled into a false sense of security with all the bottom feeder teams we've been playing, and when we came up against some real competition we got a big wakeup call.

going back up against the Kings will hopefully help get the game going again, but we need to face more competition to get Anderson ready for playoff ball and not stat padding against garbage teams (this isn't hate, as i love the big guy).

i think the biggest difference between Dwight and Stan is Dwight taking over as on court leader, and less shouting from Stan. i'm only watching from a streaming online connection so the audio quality isn't perfect, but i hardly hear Stan shouting from the sidelines anymore.

the way i see this season playing out is that the Nets keep Deron and gamble it all on being able to recruit Dwight in the offseason. we don't make a trade, since the team seems to be finding form, and we go into the offseason with the ability to clear some contracts in an effort to sign Deron ourselves. what happens from there? who knows...

well, according to the guy on TBN, Deron doesn't want to come here...

You do realize that isn't my image though, right? It posted was from another forum (TrueBlueNation). But yes, if you want a mod to pull them from the posts they are shown in, then go ahead (I edited my original post), I don't mind (but really it wasn't a big deal in retrospect, it is a speculation thread and it was MADE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE). But don't delete them at the expense of me getting in trouble (so don't shoot the messenger). Folks were curious and asked for a screen-cap to be posted. Can't have it both ways. No harm, no foul.

cb1115 wrote:Hey DJ, would you mind deleting that image? No need for that to spread around.

I can't... I deleted the image off of my computer... and i don't have an account with ImageShack (so I can't delete it off of there)... i just uploaded it really fast for folks to see because they were curious (as was I)... in all fairness though, the guy was posting multiple screen-caps of his private chats/DM with Dwight... so if he didn't want to put this out there for the whole world to see (on the internet), he shouldn't have opened up access to those images and discussed them openly with other strangers in a thread on TBN... sorry. If he's upset he might get in trouble, it's not my fault, it was his choice to do so... he can't have it both ways (privacy and public).

Now if I could delete the image I would, out of respect for you as a poster on RealGM... but that's out of my hand at this point. I can edit my post with the image and remove the link, but people have already quoted/replied to it. Sorry bud. Hope you understand.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Btw as I mentioned before, in retrospect that screen-cap is harmless (he posted MUCH WORSE before from what I've read on TBN)... just live and let live... it will vanish into obscurity... if we're worried about the guy who posted it getting in trouble (with Dwight), well again, it was his volition to post & make that screen cap (and many more) available to the internet/public. Doesn't sound like a great friend of Dwight imo. If it's private, then keep it private.

But with that all said, for anyone that wants the image gone, you can try this if you'd like. http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=email&q=abuse or just wait for a day or so when everyone forgets about it and pages pass by. Which I went ahead and reported it btw... out of respect for "thelead" and "cb1115". You're both right... no need for it to spread around anymore than it should (but not for the reason of making sure the guy who posted them on TBN doesn't get in trouble, that's far from it... it's because we don't need anymore "Dwight leaving Orlando" media ridicule spreading).

EDIT* I messaged FFBlitzace. He will remove the screen-cap when he gets back.

I still don't get why Dwight doesn't opt in to his contract next year. This would send some signals to some other guys out there. The Magic will have a TON of caproom after next year if they play their cards right and keep this team together through next year. More than likely the cap will probably be up towards $65mil or so by the summer of 2013. The Magic will only have about $15mil guaranteed then, and still have the ability to cut a little over half of JRich or BBD's contracts off the books using stretch exception if they need to (although I think I would like to still have them both with what I am proposing):

Top Free Agents probably avail in 2013:

CP3
Monta
JSmoov
Iggy
Kevin Martin

Seriously, other than CP3 (possibly Monta if he keeps this pace up)....I don't see any of the other guys getting max $, but possibly 75-85% of max maybe?

I would prob think the following salaries would be attained by those guys:

CP3 - max (approx $19mil?)
Monta - maybe max, prob somewhere in the $15mil range if not
JSmoov - prob around $13mil
Iggy - prob around $12mil
Kevin Martin - prob around $10mil

If the Magic would have possibly $50mil in caproom that summer, they could SERIOUSLY go after 2-3 of those guys. Imagine getting CP3 + Iggy/Jsmoov + Dwight. Or Kevin Martin + Iggy + JSmoov + Dwight. Or Monta + Iggy/Jsmoov + Dwight. The potential is certainly there for some lethal combos. It isn't that farfetched. If Dwight would just talk to some of those guys, opt-in next year, then we would have the room to go after these guys. I think he REALLY REALLY wants to play with DWill and only DWill, and this is creating havoc for what we are able to do. I mean, honestly, he isn't winning anything next year anyways if he goes to where he wants, so why not just opt-in next year and then get a fantastic team to pair around yourself with some of these guys??

Not saying you should be getting any grief for posting that pic. Just wondering if we could get it pulled before the General Board has a field day with it and Rich loses the contact (Dwight).

True, no hard feelings, I just wasn't sure... but that guy should understand not to post stuff like that and put himself in jeopardy of losing his contact with Dwight. He should understand there are hundreds of Magic fans on this board and TBN... they are curious and they want to feed off this kind of info. It's not worth it imo (to post those pics). FF said he'll drop by and remove it from the quotes. I agree, we should NOT let this stuff spread to the GB.

It's all good. I understand what you mean, we were all curious as to what the image was. Hopefully when FFB comes back he can remove the image. If this thing made it to the GB, I don't know what we'd do. We'd have to go into hiding for a few days lol.

It is obvious that the sponsors have spoken. Dwight is not allowed to play in Orlando. NBA is the entertainment industry. Small Markets are only allowed to have a 5% chance of drafting a superstar and mionimum 5 years to produce a championship team there afterwards. Then, they have to tank and hope for a 5% chance of drafting a superstar again. The NBA is becoming a joke.

Are sponsors like Adidas really that powerful/influential? I'm just curious... I mean that's kind of messed up tbh. :-/

Because I cover NBA, I don't root for much one way or the other. But I was hoping Dwight/Magic would stay together.

WallaceNBA_ESPN Michael Wallace
Obviously, those hopes long gone now. I said a year ago Otis should target Bynum & Pau or Lamar. Time to move is now.

WallaceNBA_ESPN Michael Wallace
If Magic get Bynum&Gasol, some1's 1st-rounder, dump Hedo's contract & still keep Ryan & Jameer, call it job well done.

I kind of agree with him, it's just weird timing. We have no motivation whatsoever to trade him right now.

Yeah, kind of an off-the-wall comment

OKC plays in the third-smallest market in the NBA and has one of the best teams in the league. San Antonio won four championships in the fourth-smallest market. Houston, Detroit and Miami are mid-market teams that have won multiple championships. New York and LA are the only real major markets; the Knicks, Nets and Clippers have been generally awful for years. Philadelphia is the fourth-biggest market--how have they been the last decade or so?

Succeeding in the NBA has much less to do with market size than luck, good drafting, luck, shrewd management and coaching, luck, and luck.

OKC is good because of drafting. In 2 years, Ibaka, Harden and Westbrook will all be on new contracts, combined with Perkins and Durant, 2 of the 3 will have to be moved. They might not be such a juggernaut then.

Right, but if they're lucky, they might snag a ring before guys have to be moved. And I'm not so sure Presti won't be able to keep the team competitive regardless. It'll be interesting to see.

We trade Howard and Hedo for Bynum/Gasol/draft picks.

Flip Gasol and Jameer for a good PG.

Sign Wilson Chandler when he gets back from China.

Fire Otis, sign Pritchard.

i don't buy that. there's more than enough money to keep Durant/Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka/Perk together.

Durant - max ($15M?)
Westbrook - max ($13M-15M)
Harden - $10M
Ibaka - $10M
Perk - $7M

that's only $57M spent. with how crafty Presti is, he can fill out a bench for 10-13M.

and it's only once the contracts start to increase due to annual increases that OKC will have to look to move one or two of them. so they've actually got more time up their sleaves.

OKC is good because of drafting. In 2 years, Ibaka, Harden and Westbrook will all be on new contracts, combined with Perkins and Durant, 2 of the 3 will have to be moved. They might not be such a juggernaut then.

Because I cover NBA, I don't root for much one way or the other. But I was hoping Dwight/Magic would stay together.

Obviously, those hopes long gone now. I said a year ago Otis should target Bynum & Pau or Lamar. Time to move is now.

If Magic get Bynum&Gasol, some1's 1st-rounder, dump Hedo's contract & still keep Ryan & Jameer, call it job well done.

I kind of agree with him, it's just weird timing. We have no motivation whatsoever to trade him right now.

Yeah, kind of an off-the-wall comment

there's no need to make a deal before the deadline. if we wait til March, NJ get further down the hole and will have a guaranteed lottery pick even post Howard trade.

we wait til March and we can see if Bynum can remain healthy.

we wait til March and we see what kind of package Dallas can put together using their expirings.

It's gone now. Let me know if I missed it anywhere.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
