Lol 11 players are being traded and you suspect only one from Orlando... Hell no... We will be sure to throw redick, liggins, and Clark in there somehow...

This is my biggest thing. How are we not demanding these players as part of the deal? We have to do what Denver did to the Knicks. Get as much as we can back. I will be sick for a year if all we get is a few late first rounders and Lopez...

Lol, we would also be getting Luke Walton... That makes the trade better

Comp 4 DH has been narrowed to Nets & "still lurking" Houston. W/Lakers evidently out of picture up to Nets to satisfy OM, I'm informed.

I'm not a fan of the houston trade either to tell you the truth, just because all they would be sending us is 10 more power forwards that can't play any other position... But I'd still rather do that trade than the nets one... That's how bad the new jersey deal is

As I have been saying for the last hour, the numbers simply don't add up. The Nets have only enough players to satisfy a legal trade for Dwight Howard and no other players. If Cleveland was really in the mix to take on Kris, it would have no effect on how few assets the Nets have.

Lopez is treated as a BYC and if he gets a max 4 year deal, it's only worth 7.75 million in a trade. Add that to Marshon Broooks who make 1.2 mil and a resigned Gaines (reports from a random blog say they resign him to a 1yr 5 mil deal) and we're still not in the range to get the salaries right.

To execute a trade for Dwight under the new CBA, the Magic need to take in 15,520,000. 7.75 (lopez) 1.2 (brooks), 5 (gaines)= 13.95. The Nets have been rumored to also have a few other scrubs to send in the deal worth appx 3 mil, taking us just above the number needed to acquire Dwight and Dwight alone.

Sadly, with this teams track record, that sounds realistic.

One thing is guaranteed: Lopez will sign a max 5-year deal (75M) no matter where he winds up, Brooklyn or Orlando

Looks like Magic gonna get Brook Lopez for Dwight swap, with Brook getting paid max. LMAO @ paying a center averaging 4 rpg max

Lol vescey is a moron... The most Lopez can get is 4 years 58 million if he signs with us or is signed and traded to us... The only way he can get that fifth year is by re signing in new jersey and staying there... The new CBA took that away from sign and trades...

That just won't work. Lopez is a BYC player, only half his salary is counted in a trade. He's only worth 7.75 mil in trade value.

They got rid of BYC I believe. I remember Coon tweeting something like that a couple weeks ago. Trade kickers, poison pills still exist though.

Almost true, but not in our case I think:

The 2011 CBA mostly eliminated BYC -- in fact, the term "Base Year Compensation" was removed from the agreement entirely. The rules formerly known as BYC now apply under just one circumstance -- during sign-and-trade transactions (see question number 88). If a team is over the cap and re-signs its Larry Bird or Early Bird free agent with a raise greater than 20%, in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade arrangement, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater. The team receiving the player always uses his new salary.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/ken-b ... ght-howard
Despite significant work left to be done, the Nets moved toward a series of options that would "sweeten the pot" for the Magic and perhaps compel them to finally end the year-long drama involving their All-Star center, one of the sources said.

The first hurdle was involving the Cavs as a third team that would be able to absorb the contract of Nets forward Kris Humphries in a sign-and-trade aspect of a larger, vastly complicated proposal. Those details were still being discussed late into the evening, as the Cavs would want draft-pick compensation for facilitating the deal. ESPN.com reported that promising Nets guard MarShon Brooks could be routed to Cleveland as part of the cost of taking on Humphries.

Humphries, an unrestricted free agent, would have to agree to the deal, which would require him to sign at least a two-year contract with the first year fully guaranteed. As of early Monday, no negotiations had taken place between Cleveland and Humphries' representatives, sources said.

Brook Lopez has a trade value of $8,600,000 if traded straight up to the Magic after signing a max 4 year deal with the Nets.
