If we weren't so loaded at guard, I would've been on board with taking on Eric Gordon in our attempt to move up to #2.

I still can't believe Danny Ainge broke up that large TPE for 1 month of healthy Fournier.

Well this deal would be fore next draft and HOU DET CLE are probably one of the top5 tankers for it. With your deal for the #2 I think HOU would demand we take Wall's contract not Eric lol

next draft who knows, but my attempt to move up this past draft included Gordon and the TPE.

Next year, going to be hard to move up all the way from 30.

More likely one from Portland (Derrick Jones Jr), Indiana (Jeremy Lamb) or Brooklyn (DeAndre Jordan) - those are teams in or close to the tax who don't need those players and they all have 1 or 2 years left so we won't burden our long term cap. Maybe Jarrett Culver from Minny?

Since the other teas need our asset ( TPE and space ) it should be they send an asset to balance it out. Accepting bad contracts with not-so attractive picks of BKN , IND and POR is not exactly what I had in mind.

Taking a bad contract to save a team on tax bills is worth a late 1st rounder (or 2nd rounder if a lower salary). We don't care about the player, just have room under the tax and a TPE that expires, so we rent our space for a minor return. OKC got a #16 for taking millions and millions off Boston's tax by taking Kemba. We won't do better by taking one year (and we don't want to muck up our cap longer than that)

Well I was hoping to have a pick in the mid-to late teens to be the warehouse of albatross contracts but any asset will do I guess.

While the rest of the NBA has been a furious hive of activity, things have been relatively tame in O-town. The last week has seen the Magic load up on Wagner brothers and add Robin Lopez, but otherwise it’s been dead quiet.

Partly that’s because the Magic aren’t short on bodies. They have 14 players with guaranteed deals for the coming season, and while the configuration is a bit weird (four centers and about 0.5 small forwards), the Magic aren’t exactly gunning for the title this year. They can afford to be patient.

However, the interesting part for Orlando is that it is one of the go-to calls for any team looking to dump a contract. While everyone focuses on Oklahoma City, the Magic are sitting on a $17 million trade exception from last season’s Evan Fournier deal, and with $22 million in float below the luxury tax line the Magic have the wherewithal to take in a large deal. It may be this summer or it may wait ’til the trade deadline, but the most significant business Orlando can do involves that exception, and (hopefully) parlaying it into a future first-round pick.

I will gladly accept any of HOU/DET/CLE 1st round draft pick for any bad contracts they have

We wouldnt get a **** teams 1st for taking a bad contract. You get those deals from a team that wants cap space to sign a guy so they can make a run. What are the rockets or pistons going to do with cap space this year?

If you want to use the TPE to get an extra 1st, you should be looking at what the thunder did with kemba\celtics. Used the tpe to take on kemba and got the 16th pick, and that was a much bigger contract than we can take (kemba was 34m i think?). So say something like taking Deandre jordan from the nets (2 years left, 10m each) for a 1st likely in the 25-30 range

Where is he now?

What I meant to say was.. RJ who by all rights ( for me) has always been a scoring SG.. now possibly a SF is compared to Ish Smith who I remember is a 6'1 PG?

He's also proven to be a bad shooter and injury-prone

Is he really injury prone though? He's had 1 injury with us.

Or are you also counting the injury from Philly where he was continuously misdiagnosed by their staff?

And he's only a bad 3pt shooter. Mid-range game is money.

Playing 113 games in 4 seasons qualifies as injury prone.
Throw in his lack of 3 point shot combined with last year's embarrassingly bad 39.4 fg%. Then factor in his contract vs the 3 young guns.

Let's do a player comparison from last year.
Player a: 26.9 min 39.4 fg% 25% from 3 12.9ppg 3.1trb 5.4apg
Player b: 27.1 min 39.7 fg% 33.7% from 3 12.9ppg 4.7trb 4.1 assists.

I'll take player b all day and twice on game day

 1 player played 7 games vs the other that played 47  You can have play b; I rather win with player a.

Let's go back to player a when he was healthy, playing his first full season:
27.7 min 46.5 fg% 26.7% from 3 12.1ppg 3.3trb 5.1 assists 1.3stls

I don't even know why I entertained this. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I look forward to when nay-sayers come around when proven wrong.

Seems a bit above market value, but nothing too crazy. He will probably start for them.

He said that he connected with coach, not worked out, within the first hour. I imagine they just talked on the phone. However, I did find this quote very telling about his relationship (or lack thereof with Cliff) talking to Mosley within the hour: 'I knew that it was very important that I establish the player/coach relationship that I wanted.'

Yeah, gets to participate in 4 days of practice with coaches and key guards.
