Agreed, our as-is bench is enticing.

AB/Jett/TDS is a bench core I get irrationally excited about.

JI/Moe are a great balance.

There are flies in the ointment though. Moe is coming back from injury, JI is a big on offense, Jett sucks, TDS is unproven, and AB needs to take a huge leap to be even average offensively.

The final fly is that Goga is too good to be a third string big.

I'm not really sure what the solution is.

There’s another consolidation trade in works would be my thought. JI and 25 or JI + Jett or Goga + 25 for x player.

That bench above is mediocre AF like you said and Weltman can’t be that dumb to not bring back Moe W. Soooo he’s got to clear a bit more money to make that happen.

Would Brooklyn be interested in JI+ Jett+ 25 for 26&27? Basically a dump of Isaac into space while we get 2 young controllable players. Heavily doubt it sadly both negative assets.

Take Raynaud and Cam Jones 2 more ready made prospects who could play.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

AB
Moe
JI

I don’t think it’s mediocre. It can be improved. I feel like TDS is going to get there as a solid bench player.

Add Vet playmaker/ shooter and I think we are ok.

Whitemore doesn’t play team ball. I don’t think he fits.

I like Cam a lot and wanted us to draft him…but the Magic clearly do not want him. In today’s presser Weltman made it a point to say how much they built a team of mature, intelligent, strong leaders on his team. My brain immediately went to oh we will never have Ja Morant or Cam Whitmore on this team.

I can only see three realistic trades concepts at this point.

1. Pure salary dump

This would be Isaac and/or Jett into someone's TPE or cap space. This would only be done if the Magic absolutely have a MLE signing they can't live without *and* want to retain Moe Wagner on smaller, but still larger than tiny contract

2. Goga alone or Goga + Jett for a player making $9-15M

This would be in lieu of the Magic using their MLE to sign someone and would also probably mean they used the 25th pick on a big.

3. Isaac alone or Isaac + Jett for a player making a $15-20M

This would also be in lieu of the Magic using their MLE to sign someone and would also probably mean they used the 25th pick on a wing/forward.

The real issue is that many of us feel that AB and Jett still are not ready to contribute meaningfully and consistently for a contender. That's a problem when they're eating up ~13 mil of the cap. That and we have one too many bigs making decent money. I'd trade WCJ but finding the right guard/team is hard. We are not in a position to be paying WCJ 20 mil when Goga fits nicely for less than half the cost.

Jeff Weltman called Suggs 2 minutes after the trade to tell him about it, probably before anyone else on the roster. Doesn’t get more obvious than that. Suggs is a core player. Just don’t let him go above 26 MPG, and tell him to play 80-90% of full speed in a lot of these meaningless regular season games, if he somehow can.

NAW was down in Miami with his family last week. I could see Miami offering him the MLE.

NAW is a very solid role player. He's basically KCP only at $14M instead of $22M. Durable 3&D guy who doesn't turn it over and can do a tiny bit off secondary playmaking.

He should have no shortage of full MLE suitors.

All these years later and I'm still not a NAW fan. I don't dislike him or anything but I don't think he moves the needle much at all.

I'd rather keep JI. Ty Jerome on the other hand, I would likely punt JI for.

AB off the bench is fine. He gave us solid bench minutes in the playoffs. I don’t really see the issue. He needs to take a step but I see it.

Jett on the other hand I don’t see. We need a vet to pair with AB in the other guard spot.

You trust AB to run an offense against OKC in the finals? The bar has been raised.

I still need to look at NAW more closely. But I remember loving him as a draft prospect and shooter. I just saw him play up to the challenge against OKC. But yeah, I have deep-dived Ty Jerome a little more and would love him for the full MLE also, or a MLE type trade.

No thanks to dumping JI though, if we have to dump I am looking at Jett and Goga, players Mosely stopped trusting in the Playoffs. We have an absurd number of juicy 2nds too.

I trust AB to be a backup guard for our team in the playoffs. Everyone has to grow and show they are ready to face OKC in the finals.

Again, add a solid vet next to AB with playmaking/shooting.

Haha non. People were suggesting Ja Morant trade, I said it is unlikely. Bane is more likely a Weltman target.
