Yeah, a lot of people are drinking the kool-aid currently. I mean, I get it... fantastic person, lifted his game the last 3 seasons to a new level, but there seems to be a bit of revisionist history going on.

The Bulls is currently the 10-seed as a play-in squad. Two games back of the 9-seed Pacers and 8-seed Heat. Assuming the Bulls miss the real playoffs, CHicago is currently the 9th worst team. Half a game behind the Pelicans.

On average I would say it is about a 18% chance the pick will not convey (i.e. would be top-4).

If the pick does slot to Orlando, look to Corey Kispert. His game will fit nicely immediately with the Magic.

Getting backstabbed or being left behind by superstars does that to you when theres a loyal one wanting to stay.

I don’t want to sound like a jerk when it’s an emotional time, but to me if this franchise won’t retire the jerseys of players that actually made this team relevant and in contention for championships then why should Vooch? The only thing Vooch has going for him is longevity and even then Nick Anderson has him beat on that and this team let Chris Duhon go out there and make a mockery of his number.

If I’m being honest, Vooch isn’t even my favorite #9 in Magic history. Not disrespect to him, but I still have a soft spot for Rashard Lewis.

I get this when it pertains to Dwight. But to be fair, the Magic and dumb 90s fans in Orlando voting in a newspaper poll pushed Shaq out of the city beautiful. It’s not like he absolutely wanted to leave. We screwed that up ourselves.

It’s also worth noting that Shaq/Dwight were top 5/MVP caliber players that every NBA team wanted. Vooch is a good player, but he’s never been a top 20 player in the league at any point in his career. If anything he benefited from being the top dog on some underwhelming Magic teams. I think he is somewhat comparable to Brook Lopez with the Nets. He stayed with them a while, was an All Star and owns a lot of franchise records (including most points) and is near the top of the list in most statistical categories. He’s probably not getting his jersey retired there.

I know you're not suggesting he's a superstar when he was a fringe All-Star twice in the East and only led the team to one winning season. He was a average player that was on the verge of being replaced with Bismack Biyombo and Mo Bamba before Clifford revitalised him and he learned to shoot 3's. Like, if I'm the Grizzlies I'm not retiring Shareef Abdur-Rahim's jersey for just wanting to stay.

Multiple all-star lol.

Past 2 great Centers we had broke our hearts. Although due to age it was only with d12 that I experienced Dwightmare... and to think less than a decadr ago I had to experience that with Tmac

Shaq
Tmac
Dwight

Although im young enough that 1st time i experienced my fave player rejecting my team was Tmac.

Also, I dunno what the story is but I didnt believe about the newspaper poll. It was always about Shaq hating being a big fish in a little pond

lol ok multiple all-star and best player on our team. Plus the player a lot of teams covet. Also in this era probably top 3-5 Center in the league depending on your definition on it.

The Magic were offering Shaq less money than Alonzo Mourning was making at the time. We low balled him and only started to raise our price when we realized the Lakers were seriously in the mix. That doesn’t sound like loyalty from our end. I can’t blame Shaq for leaving. The big fish in a little pond thing may hold some weight, but we were the ones who tried to lowball a Hall of Famer in his early 20s.

T-Mac and Dwight had legitimate gripes and reasons to leave, though Dwight acted like a child and deserves the criticism he gets. Vucevic had no real reason to leave. Teams weren’t beating down his door and he was in a good situation to develop and put up numbers in Orlando. I don’t think you can compare his situation to some players who were top 5 players expected to contend for championships.

We will never know the reason unless we plug Shaq in a lie dector device and ask him point blank the real reason he left. I mean i knownthere are lots who has your viewpoint but i know there are also lots who share mine.

Yeah Tmac and Dwight are hall of famers so a lot of course just cant wait to steal them away from us.

I dont know if you or the others were here during the dwightmare saga wherein being a magic fan was the worst. you had other team fans come here and insult us by offering lowball offers for d12 and telling us to like it because we have no leverage.

So i guess my fondness with vuc cones from him being one of the top players in the league and other teams wanting him but he never publicly says he wants out so as other teams can lowball us again. Its like Vuc again did us a solid by making sure we hold the cards and teams have to outbid each other.

If Vučević had completed his contract, he would have finished as the #1 player in Magiuc history for essentiually all categories. But with the trade, Vučević is just above ePat in total games played.

For me history will see Vučević's importance on line with Türkoğlu. An important part of history, but not a number to retire.

What do you think the rotation will be? I’m going to guess...

MCW/Bacon/Ennis/Okeke/Carter start
Randle/Hampton/Porter/Birch/Bamba off the bench.

10 man rotation.

I could see Clifford continuing to start Birch though, which would just make me laugh.

I could also see Cliff continuing to start Birch at C, but I could see him going with Mo as a starter, then Khem at backup 4. him in the 2nd unit would help stabilize (LOL) the new guys.

MCW/Bacon/Ennis/Okeke/Bamba
Randle/RJ/Otto/Birch/Carter

If Ross is healthy, RJ gets backup PG duties and Ross backup SG.

without Lebron & AD, I expect us to win today. Hopefully I"m wrong.

If Birch sees more minutes than both WCJ and Bamba, then it's just time to waive him. I have little doubt they tried to move him and couldn't find a taker. Teams were not going to give up anything with all these bigs being bought out.
Waive him and let him sign on with a contender as depth.

Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Somebody said YES. I cant confirm though

Just read it goes to 2022 with the same top 4 protection. No idea what happens if the pick doesn’t convey till 2023

On Vuch retiring. We didn’t retire Shaq’s jersey. Don’t see why we would retire Vuch’s.

Guys still going out of their way to speak ill of Vucevic. Pretty sad honestly. Vucevic stuck with an awful franchise and gave his absolute all every game he played. Vucevic never gave up on the team, requested a trade, trashed a coach, trashed the city or fans... but man we really hate him. Vucevic literally couldn’t keep composure the other night because he appreciated our city so much and felt truly connected to Orlando. What a scrub, right?

Really looking forward to who will be the next alleged clear cut reason our team is garbage. Probably Isaac and Fultz. We can apply unrealistic hypothetical projections onto some 17 yr old that will surely lead us to a championship for the next 5 years in the meantime.

Saying he doesn’t deserve his jersey retired isn’t speaking ill of him or hate. That is being dramatic.

Return to Orlando Magic
