"Personally — this isn't from the medical team or anything — but the way I feel, I think [I'm back] before Christmas," Banchero said. "So maybe that's a week before. A couple of days before. Now, if it's around that time, Arnie (Kander) says, 'Man, no way. You can't go,' then I'll listen. But if he gives me the green light, then I'm going to do it for sure."

Thats what he said 3 weeks ago, moving the return a month sounds harsh.

No Christmas for us Magic fans.....

Wait, does that mean Franz is back mid-February??

Franz will probably be post All-star break if I had to guess

Suggs is going to get alot of burn, he needs to stay healthy and changes his recklessness a bit in his game to help preserve his body

Because in games where theres no Suggs, winning is going to be so hard

Suggs might be an all star if he's able to keep us at .500 level without Franz & Paolo. I doubt it with how bad the schedule is gonna be though

Yeah... this is really sad times for us. Not so merry Christmas after all.

I thought it wouldve been a great Christmas gift for us all seeing PB playing this month.

The next 15 games brings us to Jan 15. Not a very friendly schedule at full health let alone missing our 2 best players. Might as well let Paolo come back 100%. Test this group we have and see what kind of strength they have. It's still a long season. Right now we're the 7th best team in the league record wise. Let's see how this next month plays out

"I'm feeling good, man," Banchero told Magic on SI and the Orlando Sentinel in the team's locker room Sunday. "I finally got to do some court stuff on this trip at practice – some ball handling, some spot shooting. It felt really good just to do that stuff again because I literally hadn't done anything in a month. It was my first time really getting to dribble a ball, shoot a ball, so [it] felt really good doing that.

"Obviously wasn't any sprinting or cutting or anything, but hopefully in the next few weeks, I can start getting into more of that and just work my way back into playing shape," Banchero added.

That's on December 2nd.

Today there is report that he wasnt ready for regular practice.
Still some time to go, but i think he comes back in 2024

Same

I'm happy theyre not rushing him back though, oblique injuries can become nagging if rushed back.

Realistically we're not contenders for a chip this year, and he's our franchise player. We want him to able to contribute at a high level 10+ years down the road

I think they based it on Coach Mos saying Paolo isn't even running...

We need to see him twisting, turning and bending over.
No reason to get excited until that starts happening.

---

"A torn oblique muscle primarily affects rotation and lateral flexion of the torso.

Here's why:

Oblique Muscles: The obliques are a group of muscles on the sides of your abdomen. They are responsible for:

Rotating the torso: Turning your body from side to side.
Lateral flexion: Bending your body sideways.
    Flexing the torso: Bending forward.
Stabilizing the core: Helping to maintain posture and balance.
Impact of a Tear: When an oblique muscle tears, it becomes painful and difficult to perform these movements. The severity of the tear will determine the extent of the limitation."

If it was still torn, the Magic staff would not allow him to shoot. I’m sure they had him do multiple activities where all of that came into play.

One thing I note in the videos is that Banchero has no lift at all in hist shot. It's quite shocking actually. Like he's playing HORSE.

Something to consider…the degrees of a tear are so variable, Franz could even return with Paolo or even sooner. I haven’t heard anything re: the relative severity of their injuries, but no two are necessarily the same.

That’s actually normally when he’s putting up shots. Even when he was heathy he was like that. The only time I really see him jump is in the games.

He definitely does lol. Not crazy high but not the LaMelo or whatever he's doing there. Unless you mean always when he practices, then maybe you're right!

But he's clearly just doing some light practice shots, not any real in-game stuff yet (at least in these clips).

There are some clips of him I’ve watched and have always been curious if he chooses not to jump because of his weight or that’s just his preferred method of not going hard during the shooting drills. I saw a clip of him shooting 3s with hardly any jumps. I don’t get it. His actually jumps sometimes do not match his release point in games as well and it looks awkward but it works for him.

As frustrating as it is, this is absolutely the type of injury you take the cautious approach
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era
