I listen to one podcast ( from my country) where 3 very smart basketball people were grilling Magic offense saying they would defend us 4 on5 and have one guy standing below our rim, because 5 men aren't needed to defend Magic "offense".

What assets?
Overpriced Wendell Carter?
Isaac that can only play 17mpg max?
2 late first round picks?
The cap space they spent on KCP?
Cole Anthony that has regressed since being paid?
Bust Jett Howard?
Orlando has Anthony Black, somewhat discount Goga, and KCP that they probably won’t move as actual assets.
The time for moves was last season.

The best move probably is to try and get healthy and make the 2 picks. The scary thing is Weltman may make a crazy reach for a player, which he for Jett and Chuma. Both were accurately mocked, but Weltman took them 15 spots early.VFX wrote:Optimus_Steel wrote:Fortune Teller wrote:Same thing the national media were saying during the Cavs series last year. Weltman should offer that 16th pick + Wendell to Portland for Anfernee Simons and the 24th or 25th pick Danny Wolf could be in consideration.
Adding Simons offense and playmaking capability plus his three point shot is an immediate fix. The bonus of having a 7 foot center who can dribble and pass creates another playmaker to run offense through.

I like Nickeil Alexander Walker, too. He was the player we were mocked to get in 2019 instead of Chuma. He's also an FA this season.three3d wrote:basketballRob wrote:The best move probably is to try and get healthy and make the 2 picks. Re: Official 2024-2025 Magic General Season Thread I
I'm not sure if this has been talked about in the game thread, but I was shocked to see the way Trae punked out against us in the Play-in.
I wanted him since draft night, albeit, he was 1b after Luka.
However, watching him quit in the Play-in against ORL totally changed my mind..
I'm surprised more hasn't been made of his purposeful 2nd technical foul.
It was the equivalent of taking your ball and going home. As an adult being paid millions to play, to me at least, that's a RED FLAG the size of Oklahoma.
I even asked a friend that has watchd more ball then me if he had ever seen a player quit like that towards the end of an NBA game, as it was unprofessional AF, in my opinion. He responded "no", but then launched into all the reasons he could see why he did it...
Idk man, it blew me away. All the way off wanting him as a leader.

Walter Clayton Jr is really interesting, he’s gotten better every year he’s plaid all the way to a National Championship. He reminds me of a Jamal Murray even before those comparisons came up. I don’t know if what we saw was a fluke or if it would translate to the League but what’s not deniable was he hit HUGE clutch shots and took over games.

exactly what I've been saying... AB is our only real true asset, everything else is filler.
I honestly don't think Goga is looked as a positive in the league. He had 1/2 a good year and you can find C's like him on the buyout/late 1st/FA market for cheap. He probably only got 1+1 year deal with team option for like 7-8M. Issue for us is we had to lock him up for multiple years because WCJ injury prone ass and I think FO knows they made a mistake there.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

There are teams like the Lakers or Suns that would definitely love Goga in their current situation.
But yeah, outside of trading the big 3, its basically AB or realizing the KCP experiment failed if you aren't talking about a handful of teams that could use a low priced starting C.

We all know that. The media knows that. The non-fans know that. But for whatever reason the FO don’t seem to care.

The flagrant foul looked pretty weak, but Horford seemed to think it was intentional from KCP.
