If I was a betting man, I'll say Dwight ends up in Brooklyn.

Lakers won't trade without commitment, and noone else is seriously offering anything... Brook Lopez train here we come, choo choo!

And since we're likely gonna miss the playoffs next year, LETS GO HEAT 8-)

Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXII Off-Season Edition)

Post#302 » by MagicTownBaller » Thu Jul 5, 2012 7:53 pm

It's sad, but we might actually get the Nets deal. I don't want Dwight to go to Brooklyn at all. I just hope we have Brook Lopez going to a third team and same with Humphries. I want Brooks and plenty of picks, maybe a decent Center too.

Ish

Ishmael will be the best backup PG in the league!

He's still a UFA, anyone can sign him.

I'm starting to think the same thing but it is still early in the off season though. I'm actually more anxious to know who our head coach is going to be.

If we hire Shaw, the plan will be to keep Dwight.

If we hire Malone, I think Dwight is gone.

Malone is a no nonsense kind of guy. Shaw is a player's coach and would probably massage Dwight's shoulder's every night.

Jameer is our best non- Dwight player for go-to scoring. 6.5mil per for 2-3 yrs is very solid deal for both sides, especially compared to these other FA deals. And I've always said all along, I think Jameer knows he could potentially be a 6th man type player soon now, given his age and Hennigan's plan for a better team. Jameer would make a crazy good 6th man guy now, Jet-like but as a scoring PG. Remember, Hennigan and Jameer talked a ton together, this wasn't an agent and GM only type situation.

This I agree with. Might as well look at the positives as well as the negatives. Same goes for Brooks, Hump will go to a different team.

WHY???

The obvious is staring everyone in the face. Dwight cannot sign there as a free agent next year. So, unless the Magic trade him to the Nets, he cannot be a Net. Plain and simple.

All the Magic have to do is say, "Dwight, we will never trade you to the Nets. Deal with it."

Voila, he has to expand his list of teams.

That's why the Lakers are the true favorites right now. They have the asset(s) the Magic wants.

If the rockets get the raptors #1 thsi year, i would say thats more valuable than lowry himself. The raptors arent very good and that pick will be fairly high, which will really help our rebuilding alot more than a slightly above average PG would

Id take that pick and their 3 rookies over any other offer ive heard about so far

I think you're making a bad assumption, that whatever player is picked will be better than Lowry, a proven quality starter in the league. Statistically, all draft picks are a bit of a crap shoot, and anything outside the top five is 50/50 at best. See http://www.82games.com/nbadraftpicks.htm for a great analysis and why this may or may not be a good move for Houston.

I'm curious why Houston decided they wanted to dump Lowry so badly?

Would've rather spent the money on Michael Beasley.

Maybe because they prefer Aaron Brooks or Lin?

You guys who think the Nets trade is imminent don't understand the sports entertainment industry. ESPN is no different than TMZ. They need viewers. They need ratings. What is the #1 market in the US?

NEW YORK

How do you drive ratings up for a few weeks? Keep every New Yorker glued to their TV by telling them a Dwight trade to the NETS is imminent Whether it's true or not.

Don't believe 99% of what you see on TV. The other 1% is only true by accident.

Lowry made it very public that he didnt like mchale and that he wanted out of houston so houston did the right thing and moved him quickly for what they thought was the best descision for their franchise

I actually watched First Take this morning. Not one of the guys brought up the fact that the NETS cannot sign Dwight as a free agent next summer because they will not have the cap room.

Why?

Their producers won't let them. Deflates the frenzy for New York fans and causes them to lose viewers. I've worked for these networks. It's all about the ratings and appealing to where the largest fan bases are - truth be damned.

They traded him because he said he didn't want to play there anymore. Wasn't that it, something about the GM or coach?

Steve Bulpett @SteveBHoop
Brandon Bass staying. Celtics have reached agreement with power forward on 3-year deal, per Herald source.

No pass Bass is staying in Boston, another 3 year deal for them. Who's the free agent list in three years? How far are they thinking ahead?
