However, I don't think the proposed Nets deal is all that terrible--certainly not to the level of self-defenestrating out of tall buildings, as some have made it out to be. We get three mid-to-late first-rounders (which is where the Rockets' rookies we're talking about trading for were selected), we get a top-ten center in the league (yes, Lopez is top-ten; it goes, Dwight, then Bynum, with an interchangeable mix of Hibbert, Gasol, Noah, Monroe, Bogut, Anthony Davis if he turns out to be as good as projected, and then Lopez in there), we shed three bad contracts in the Richardsons and Duhon (and with them gone, Hedo's becomes less of an albatross, as it is only partially guaranteed and expires around the same time as a lot of our other contracts, making them nice trade bait in a year and a half), and we get a handful of fringe players or people I've never heard of, who have small contracts, give them a shot, and see how they do, low-risk.

That's better than Dwight leaving for nothing, and if it is the best offer, I don't have any problem taking it. I look forward to a rebuild done by a staff who seems to value team-building for the long-term.

Of course, Dwight still behaved like a jerk during the process, but whatever, money and all-world talent doesn't buy you common sense and decency, I guess.

Many of the versions of this deal don't even include Duhon. Like the last several versions of the proposed deal, Duhon hasn't been involved at all....so i don't know why people keep mentioning him.

And no Lopez isn't a top 10 center. Glen Davis' run as our starting center was a better stretch than any stretch of Lopez' career. Davis and like 15 other guys are better than Lopez. It's crazy how some people think a guy is good because he scores 20 ppg. Nevermind that his FG pct is garbage for a center.

a 3 team trade between LA ORL HOU makes a lot of sense if HOU wouldn't take the risk on dwight.

I only play with the Magic so at times that can be a problem when everyone always picks the Heat. I haven't played in a couple months if you want o get a game in sometime.

I play 2k on the xbox every now and then. I think I'm 9-1. I don't know how, i don't consider myself great at that game. I would say I'm a little better than decent.

I don't think anyone knows what's really in the Houston deal because the media doesn't want Dwight to go there so it isn't really news. Honestly the fact that is the one deal that we know little of, and Houston keeps clearing cap-space, leads me to believe it is the one Hennigan is the most actively pursuing.

I'm really starting to believe the Nets deal is all smokescreen or created by the media and Dwight's camp. It just doesn't make sense for any team involved aside from Brooklyn. The only way I see Dwight being dealt to Brooklyn is if Fegan threatens the Magic organization by potentially keeping future players away from the organization. That's pretty low, but he is an agent. It would also set a terrible precedent where superstars and their agents can essentially blackmail their team into sending them wherever they want to go regardless of their contract. Kevin Love's not happy in Minnesota? He demands a trade to NY with several years remaining on his contract. Make it happen or none of my clients will even visit Minneapolis. Not saying Love would do that, but just an example of what could happen.

The version of the deal I saw had Duhon. But even without him (though I want that useless fool off my team in the worst way) it's still not a deal-breaker. His contract is only partially guaranteed after this year, and you know he'll be waived with only a one point five million cap hit.

Also, when we're talking top fifteen centers, you're getting into pretty semantic territory. They get fairly interchangeable around the level of the Hibberts, Gasols, and Noahs of the world; very solid players, but not franchise players. Same as Lopez, solid but not franchise.

HOU: Dwight + JRich
MEM: KMart + Parsons + future 1st
ORL: Gay + White + Lamb + Toronto 1st + MOAR 1stssssssss

BBD/OQuinn
Nicholson/Harper
Gay/White/Hedo
JJ/Lamb/Liggins
Nelson/infinity/Duhon

no reason to get Gay over Parsons. Gay is done improving, while Parsons is younger, MUCH cheaper, and has been in the league only 1 year. Getting gay locks us into the 6-8 seed untill his contract runs out

Gay isn't done. he may not bring much more in terms of PPG, etc, but he's reaching a point where he'll finesse his game, his IQ will rise, and he'll start doing all those little things that are needed for a team to win. he's the sort of guy you'd want as a 3rd option. it's a bit of a stretch trading for an overpriced wing now, with the hopes of making him a 3rd option in the future, but i think he's the sort of guy you'd want to have around. mark my words, in 3 years time he'll be signing with a contender somewhere, and he'll be a big difference maker for that team.

If the Nets deal goes down, I am assuming that the Lakers didn't offer Bynum and the Rockets weren't offering anything.
