Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
I think they did try to move Lowry. Siakam just doesn't look good now, and he has a horrendous contract, not sure he had a lot of attention in the trade market.Xatticus wrote:basketballRob wrote:Most Raptors fans believe they're tanking.Knightro wrote:
I don't get this. I feel like people automatically assume teams that are losing are tanking. Sometimes teams just aren't very good or just have a lot of injuries. It doesn't mean they're actively trying to lose.
The only team that appears to be no questions asked actively tanking are the Thunder.
Toronto has won 2 of their last 4 and 4 of their last 8. They have some guys out because of injuries, they pretty much play their regulars when they're available. They just aren't a very good team.
Houston has been playing all of their healthy veterans - Olynyk, Wall, Bradley, Wood and Tate are all playing, they just aren't good.

They aren't. They've been riding their starters pretty hard when they play. It's just been a really dysfunctional season for them. They've always relied on good depth, but they haven't had that this year for a variety of reasons.
If they were tanking, they surely would've traded Lowry and they probably would've moved Siakam as well. I think there is a decent chance that he gets moved this offseason. Siakam has had a couple blowups this year and reportedly said something very personal to Nurse after he was sat down for the entire 4th quarter of a game earlier this year. All might not be well between them and they aren't going to get rid of Nurse. Siakam has had a down year and if they can get good value for him, they'd probably be happy to move on. If they were tanking, he probably would've been shopped hard at the deadline.

Dang... that's just... They still have Birch's revenge game ready right? Any future Magic killers in their lineup?

And it's blatantly obvious they're tanking. Why can't we just sit 5 players and say it's for rest?Knightro wrote:basketballRob wrote:Toronto is tanking. We need to match that.

It's unfortunate. A lot of teams are going to be resting their best players against us. I'd like to get into the top 3 to maximize our chances of getting a top-4 pick, but it just seems really unlikely at this point.

Ok wow.. Raps really gunning for the top 5 then. How do we protect our spot? Put in Prime-Time Bacon to disrupt the team? Put in Hall? Who is probably gonna ball out trying to earn that 2nd 10-day and by extension another longer contract? How about Cole and RJ and tell them to just get theirs?

Chuma, Mcw, Harris, and WCJ. We can just roll with Hall as the only center.RookieStar wrote:basketballRob wrote:And it's blatantly obvious they're tanking. Why can't we just sit 5 players and say it's for rest?Knightro wrote:

Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
Hope the league steps in this offseason and does something about teams resting healthy players by the bunches in order to tank (but how?).

Im for it. However, just play Chuma... he needs the reps. He needs more games to feel comfortable dunking lol

Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
After last night's impressive win and good play by the current squad, I am a bit worried about our lottery odds.
Less Bamba = Less tanking
Mo Bamba = Mo' tanking
We need our worst player back on the court and less on the injured list. We need his defense and rebounding skills to help us secure some losses.

Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
Appears the Magic won't have MCW on Friday. I know he's been a whipping boy on this board all year, but not having him is actually beneficial to the tank.

Yeah, with no one else to run the offense, it definitely helps the tank.
