Funny how many people around here were especially high on him not that long ago.

Oh I completely admit that I absolutely loved the guy coming out of college. His metrics were spectacular - 12.3 BPM for a guard is phenomenal.

But really if you dig under the hood a little bit on his college stats, his shooting profile was never actually all that strong. Only .723 career from the FT line and only one year of even average shooting from 3PT range.

And his big year he was still only 1.33 AST/TOV ratio too which also isn't anything special.

I got to say that Jase was very impressive. He is very smart, high IQ player and knows how to play the game. Good skill set with an excellent 3pt shot and very good inside finishing. He is a walking bucket, feels like a microwave type potential. This guy is a talent, he will earn himself minutes at some point. His best play of the night was that quick pass to Tristan for the open 3 that cut it to 2 late, great decision making.

Penda got off to a really rough start and his 3pt is awful but his defense was really good, handled the ball fairly well, good drives to the basket and even some drop steps to muscle his way into buckets. Definitely a swiss knife type role player. Obviously needs to work on the outside shot.

I would think over the course of history that Summer League stats mean very little, especially for rookies. I think you really just don't want your guys to look lost out there and ours didn't.

TDS looked like TDS. I'm still not sure what his niche is, but he definitely has NBA talent.

Jase is going to knock down shots at a good rate and can finish at the rim. He is going to compete on defense. Question is how good he can be as an off ball guard if that is his ultimate role. We have a team that has a pretty good chance of accommodating him, but we'll see. I still think based off IQ and shooting ability he will find a way to be a good role player at worst.

Penda looked disruptive on defense and very strong. The shot is very inconsistent. If he can just get to a passable level shooting he is going to be a quality role player.

I wasn't a huge Raynaud fan, I do think he has a chance to be a nice scorer if it works out, but still prioritize defense for my center. As for him slipping in the 2nd or whatever-- GMs have said the 2nd round was like free agency this year. They would call a player's agent and that agent would tell them don't take him we already have a deal. Kings could have long worked something out with him. I do prefer having Penda, but I wouldn't have been upset with a Raynaud pick and he could end up being a nice value for sure.

Penda is a big boy. Had a couple nice drives and decent D. he took a 3 off the dribble looked a little flat, but his shot looks clean.

The 2nd unit was pretty unwatchable. I watched it early, Santos...not great. I'll admit i skipped the 2nd unit after their abysmal opening rotation.

I was surprised by how strong Penda is. He has alot of mass and muscle.

the fact that none dropped? awful......the form of the shot? far from it

Jett is worse by a wide margin.

Carter is very physical and high effort defensively at the very least.

Jett's a lousy defender who has also made less than 30% of his career 3PT attempts. Bad combo.

Carter but Jett is not too far behind him (I'm talking about future projections here). There are so many red flags with Jett but my biggest one is his love for the game. Does he really love the game or did he just do it because he had good genes and a father that pushed him?

Jett has more skill. Carter seems to care a lot more.

Jase seemed pretty unconcerned about the ankle tweak in the postgame.

And with the next game not until Sunday, I'd imagine he'll be fine to keep playing.

Really impressed with Jase, he wasnt a liability on defense, and thought he actually played good defense most of the time. He was really good at finishing and took good shots and made most of them. I could see myself wanting him to play over Tyus this season. Think we got a good one!

Penda had some good plays and some bad plays. I guess thats why he was a 2nd round pick. I see the vision for sure though.

TDS looked exactly the same, for better or worse. He makes the right play, its obvious his best role is SF. Hes not big/strong enough for the 4.

I dont know when we got this Ethan Thompson kid, but he is terrible. I'll take anyone over him for a 2 way spot.

Not impressed with anyone else honestly besides Skal Labissière. I was a fan of his pre-draft, but whats the point of rostering him? Lets look for players on other teams, the roster outside of our draft picks are badddd.....
DONT PLAY TYUS

Jase is going to shock some people this year that type cast him as the typical one dimensional ineffecient defensive sieve small guard.

He's not that. Jase, as you saw tonight, is a legit 3 level scorer that can use his length to finish with contact at the basket. It's that skill I see being so valuable at the next level and makes his ceiling, to me, much higher then people realize.

Jase Richardson is not in any shape or form the same type of player as Cole Anthony as a basketball player.

He's far better.

I said it in the Welcome to Orlando Jase thread.

Oh wow 16 pages of Summer League.
We are long passed this. Odds are, not a single person from Magic SL will be in rotation any time soon on main roster.

Maybe some sporadic garbage time for Jase and Penda, but that's about it.

And to be honest, i don't even understand why is Summer League played in current format. Why teams fill 20 roster spots with whole bunch of G league players in their mid 20s. What's the point of guys like Quenton Jackson in SL? Guy is 27 ( and you can see level of experience that is way above what rookies have ).

Not to mention Magic bringing Scal. Bro is 29. For crying out loud, he wanted to play in Europe in 2014, and no team offered him contract. Why i have to watch him in summer league 11 years later? Why his mother /brother/father finally don't finally tell him to get real job?

Summer league is like watching small people basketball. You watch it because there is nothing better to do. But almost nothing you can learn off it, just not very good quality of product, but you take it.

Jett is still immature on the court. Get overly anxious and tries to do too much. Its one thing to get abused on defense, but to dribble too much is another. There was one game he overdribbled because he wanted to shoot the ball and Mosley was do furious he put him on the bench since then. Lmao

Jett will be fine if focuses on his role.
