Wouldn't be surprise if Fegan and his people were behind all this. Multiple reports state Bynum and his camp never said anything about not resigning in Orlando if traded.

what would they gain from this? they think they can pressure hennigan to make the trade or sumthi?

bynum hasn't said anything on the matter most likely making Orlando uneasy, Dwight's people are taking advantage of this and spreading rumors that he wouldn't sign an extension.

Honestly the fact that is the one deal that we know little of, and Houston keeps clearing cap-space, leads me to believe it is the one Hennigan is the most actively pursuing.
I'm really starting to believe the Nets deal is all smokescreen or created by the media and Dwight's camp. It just doesn't make sense for any team involved aside from Brooklyn. The only way I see Dwight being dealt to Brooklyn is if Fegan threatens the Magic organization by potentially keeping future players away from the organization. That's pretty low, but he is an agent. It would also set a terrible precedent where superstars and their agents can essentially blackmail their team into sending them wherever they want to go regardless of their contract. Kevin Love's not happy in Minnesota? He demands a trade to NY with several years remaining on his contract. Make it happen or none of my clients will even visit Minneapolis. Not saying Love would do that, but just an example of what could happen.
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't extortion of a felony? Fegan blackmailing Orlando in a business deal doesn't sound like sopmething that is legal.

I will cry tears of joy if we get Bynum for Dwight. At least we'd have a franchise player to build around, with a ton of cap space and tradable assets to put a core in place and not skip a beat.

Magic are going to build thru the draft, so even if Fegan threatened that, players would be locked into the Magic for at least 7 years (rookie and 1st extension). And if they are winning, players will come not only because of winning, but extra money from no income tax in Florida.

That's on Woj though. His tweet was actually worded in a way that suggested it, but he never said it either. He said Bynum gave no inclination he would sign here. I remember, because i posted that he also gave no inclination that he wouldn't sign here either and questioned the tweet. But yeah, Fegan is feeding the press what he wants out there.
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.
Boo.
Boo.

I've said it once and I've said it again...
With a new GM building around him, a young new coach (Shaw), new arena, fans that would love him if he succeeds in the wake of Dwights departure, and being a clearcut #1 option while having his bird rights makes me confident Bynum would resign.
He is leaving the Lakers so he can get out of Kobe & Gasol's shadows and have his own team. Why wouldn't he sign in Orlando?

Makes no damn sense to trade with the Nets then.
This came up earlier - remember who the reporter is - Brian Schmitz. That alone makes it questionable.

forget even leaving the Lakers the fact he stands to get a 5 year max from the Orlando is good enough reason for him to resign.

BS has been all over Bynum for Howard for the longest time. He picked his horse and now he's going to ride it to the finish line. Same as Ping.

Putting an awful lot of emphasis on one game, aren't we?

I feel like you have to take certain risks like that too. The Nets went all in for D-Will and have put together a quality team without D12. Had D-Will walked, they'd be in the same place as they were, still rebuilding. They had nothing to lose.
Same applies to us. If he bounces, we're still rebuilding with nice cap space.
The Magic can put a good team around Bynum in 2013 and offer him the best contract, with no state income tax, and him being the center piece. Odds are in Magic's favor.

I remember a year ago we laughed at the idea of a Howard/Bynum trade, now we are begging for it lol

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXV Off-Season Edition
Anyone consider that maybe Devos or Martins told Dwight something to the effect of "if you opt in and change your mind we promise we will trade you to the team of your choice"? Don't get me wrong, I would break that promise, but it's the only reason why I could even see us considering the Nets offer
