I like Karl, but Kennedy's tweet skews facts a bit.

Karl took over a very stacked team that was in the playoffs the previous year and was expected to go deep into the playoffs that year...but they went through some kind of lockeroom turmoil and as a result were severely underperforming.

Karl took over a team that had young stars in Carmelo and Nene plus Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, and Andre Miller all in their prime, plus a deep experienced veteran bench.

Not exactly the same situation he would be dealing with in Orlando.

George Karl would be fantastic. It's actually very exciting to see him commenting in the situation. Maybe trying to appeal to the FO?

Just catching up and sounds like the presser was interesting. Borrego may try and do something as an audition to other teams to get a shot or maybe to even stay under the new coach (not unheard of). I hope they do have a replacement by the all-star break.

Guess my little hidden jokes last game thread were right lol. I do wish JV the best.

I wouldn't say the cupboard is bare. We're stacked in talent... it's just young talent. Is Karl a guy willing to have patience and teach? Or does he just want to step into a situation that is already playoff established with veterans?

Karl would be a great hire. How is his health these days, would he be able to take over a full-time coaching position without any issues? Hes pretty up there in the age department.

I don't see the point in rushing on appointing a new coach.

I think we should just tank it again this year, get a good lotto pick and name a good coach in the offseason.

Had that been the case we would have stuck with JV don't you think? "Tanking" as you call it, bad coaching as I do, is over with. The expectations are much higher.

We needed a coach that didn't expect to win immediately. Someone we could rebuild with. Vaughn's purpose was met. Now it's time to start winning

I don't know much about Karl the person, just the coach. What exactly is it about him that some of you guys don't like?

Normally I worry about the drive and willingness to understand new styles when it comes to old coaches and retreads. But Karl seems like he really wants to coach, based on the hints he drops on Twitter and television spots. That has to count for something.

I would consider this as channeling the storm. A PR move.

I just don't think it would make sense at this point, there only a been a few teams who has made wonders in the playoffs when they made a huge midseason transaction.

Also the fact that I don't think it would be well for us if we decide to rush the selection and name a new coach by the allstar break. Hey, I don't mind if we name a new one by then, but I think this is the point of the "process" where we need to carefully select the right coach for this team. We're past the point of developing players and giving them the right frame of mind entering the season. And I think there will be more selections to choose from in the offseason, with all the assistant coaches most likely be allowed to interview by then, rather than now which I doubt most of who we ask permission to speak with will be allowed considering that it can be a distraction for their respective team.

I don't mind delaying this competing thing to next season, as long as we can get the right coach for the job.

We have solid potential, but I wouldn't say we are stacked with talent. Like SVG famously said "potential only means you're not that good yet." Only Vuc is a clear starter on most playoff teams, maybe Oladipo and Harris; not that that won't change in the future but that's the reality right now.

Karl has never really coached a young rebuilding team and right now his eagerness makes it seem like he doesn't have many options (possibly for health reasons)...those two things worry me a bit.

Either way I trust Hennigan will make the right decision. JV was the right type of coach for the early tank stage and now its time to move onto the middle stage.
