So.. is this draft gonna be wild or what? Do we hold it without a draft combine? How about the interview and private workouts? We might get a steal from some under-the-radar guy.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Looking back on this seoson's draft class:
I would be working hard to get NAW off of New Orleans, since they just don't have room for him. Apparently he's taken on JJ as his mentor, so the kid has great taste. Why not bring the both of them over? JJ to close out his career where he started it, setting up NAW to take over.

Can probably kiss the Vassell dreams goodbye. Most team won’t take risks and he’s a pretty safe pick inside top 10 IMO. That likely opens the door for Nesmith as he could/will fall
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

when i saw his +4 in wingspan.... made drafting him a reality.

But for real though... he seems ideal.... and i hope he falls into our laps.

Frequent wavering during the process. Watched some clips today and came away impressed with how smooth Nesmith is. So he's back to the top lol.
This isn't like Dipo vs BMac where I was on opposite sides. I would be happy with either Nesmith or Vassell.
Some others in the mix too.
Which other players do you have in the mix too?
Well.... it's hard to say who's in our range... some wishful thinking here, but as of right now something like this...
1. Tyrese Haliburton
2. Jaden McDaniels
3a. Aaron Nesmith
3b. Devin Vassell
4. Saddiq Bey
5. RJ Hampton
NBADraft.net has us taking McDaniels.

ESPN has us taking Theo Maledon now.

Nesmith or Sadiq Bey for me. Both dudes would easily provide solid bench minutes and we can cut Frazier and re sign Iwundu I guess

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Theo Maledon looks intriguing. He has this crazy hang-back/hesitation dribble.
He's a little bit shifty, and plays like a younger Tony Parker whose lower speeds of attack are a deceptive lull.
He can score in traffic and in crowded spaces.
He 's gonna attack in the paint if he has to, not hang behind the 3pt line the whole shot clock.
He's 6'5. Athletic. 18 years old nearing 19 years old.
Shot form looks good, FT% and 3P% are solid. Improving his 2P% year over year.
Seems like a pesky, no-risk defender.
Doesn't seem like a special passing-PG.
TOV prone.
Euro project that could end up being more of a 2nd round project. With our luck, could go ahead of us in either round too, lol.
FT% and TOV are hurting in his latest season, but he did improve his 3P% from a previous bad year.
Imo, he's not as natural at scoring smartly yet.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Quite a few guys are rising into our laps. I would say most interesting are Tyrell Terry, Kira Lewis and to some extent Desmond Bane.
Terry is kind of small, but he plays bigger. More of a back up point guard, but taking into account Dj success next to Fultz its reasonable to think they can play together in some lineups. He can play on ball and off ball, he is not total defensive liability.
Lewis is a worse fit than Terry, but some would say he has more potential as a lead ball handler. I would draft him only if we think he becomes a star.
I think i am alone right now, but i think Bane has some chance to be drafted by us. Big, strong dude, switchable on defense, great shooter, very good decision maker and team defender. We need a guy who can guard those strong 3's and hit a jump shot. He would fit next to Ross beautifully imo. I think he is a Weltman guy, only thing that is not matching is his short wingspan. Personally i dont think its such a big weakness, he will not be a rim protector anyway, and his instincts and hands are pretty good. Overall i like him more than Nesmith right now.
Still i would say he is the most Weltman- looking guy to me :

In the same way I believed Orlando should have traded down for the rights to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, I would be all-in on the Magic trading down for the rights to Aleksej Pokuševski. He has a lot of unicorn-esqe attributes that reminds one of Porziņģis.
If Pokuševski proves he is capable of defending the SF slot, then the Magic could have a long term roster of:
Fultz
xxx
Pokuševski or Okeke (swap around)
Isaac
Bamba
There is a lot of length there. In a couple year's time this is an interesting roster.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
List I’d be OK with us drafting, whether it be a trade up, selection, reach, trade down etc.
I took the projected top 5 picks off the board because it’s highly unlikely the conservative Orlando FO makes a move like that in this very weak draft.
Trade up: still unlikely
Killian Hayes
Tyrese Haliburton
Select/ Minor Trade Up:
Devin Vassell
Nico Mannion
Aaron Nesmith
Saddiq Bey
Theo Maledon
Reach/Dark Horse:
Tyler Bey
Tyrell Terry
Second Round Selection/ Minor Trade Up:
Tyus Jones
Jordan Nwora
Robert Woodard
Devon Dotson
Joel Ayayi
Cassius Winston
Second Round Selection / Minor Trade Down:
Ashton Hagans
Jared Butler
Payton Pritchard
Players I’m on the fence about:
Tyrese Maxey
Kira Lewis

I dont think he is a trade down player. Either we believe in his offensive upside and draft him 15 (if he is available) or we dont believe fully and just take someone else. He is awkward fit on our team as constructed. If we are trading Gordon we need strong wing/forward to be a point of attack defender for Butlers/Kawhis. Okeke can be that, Pokusevski not so much, so we really need to believe in his offense.
I really believe we are in a perfect spot to grab a steal. Ball, Edwards, Haliburton, Okoro, Wiseman, Avdija, even Toppin feel like trap players.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I really believe that RJ Hampton is a high value pick and will be available at #15. So: if I was Orlando GM, I would do nothing but wait.

Not my final list but I would be very happy if we went with one of the following players at 15.
Aaron Nesmith
Devin Vassell
Kira Lewis
I think that Kira Lewis is being severely underrated.

Would the draft be delayed if the season extends beyond 25 June? I think the answer kind of hast to be YES.

I think it's already been delayed to 1st August (earliest) but presumably it would be delayed further to accommodate finishing the season if necessary.

There’s no sports on, but I guess the upside is if corona gets under control we won’t have to have a break without NFL/NBA until the 20-21 NBA season concludes? Or if these schedules go more permanently then maybe we’ll never be without one or the other for months of just having to watch baseball.

Re: Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread
Anyone has thoughts about Bolmaro ? He seems like a serious prospect maybe even in our range.
Very good handle, creative passer and tenacious defender.
I have been a little lower on Nesmith recently, not so sure on Bey either.
